How to Configure ADSL

This document is prepared for braches whose ADSL losses it configuration continuously. When ADSL
losses it configuration it’s IP Address reset to its factory default which is 192.168.1.1, so the connectivity
between head office and braches will be lost because of the reset of the ADSL to factory default.

Each braches has its own Local Area Network Address (LAN) IP Address and Wide Area Network Address
(WAN) IP Address. You can call and take you LAN and WAN IP address from IT Staffs and register it on
file and save it on easily accessible place like your desktop. Once you have the detail about the LAN and
WAN IP address, please follow the following procedure to configure the ADSL

Step one.
1. Change your computer’s IP address to 192.168.1.3 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 default gateway
to 192.168.168.1.1 to change your computer’s IP Address follow on these procedures.
a. Click on Network icon on the task bar as see by the following diagram on the red arrow.
b. Click on “open Network and Sharing Center”

c. Click on “Local Area Connection”

d. Click on “Properties”
e. Double click on “Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” in the Local Area Connection
properties dialog box.
f. Set the IP address just like this
g. Click on OK, OK and Close.

Step Two
1. Open internet explorer and write 192.168.1.1 on the Address bar like shown below and click
Enter key
2. A dialog box similar to the next figure will be displayed

Put the credential like this, it is case sensitive all in small letters

User name = admin

Password = admin

3. A dialog box similar to the next figure will be displayed

Click on Advance tab as shown in the red arrow above.


4. A dialog box similar to the next figure will be displayed

Click on LAN on the black side of the figure and type your branches LAN IP Address you have already
taken from IT staffs as describe on the above description on the Primary IP Address field and Subnet
Mask field. And click on Apply Tab
5. Click on WAN Tab below the LAN Tab and the following picture will appear

Click on the pencil icon in the Edit column and click on next on the following figure below
6. Select on “MAC Encapsulation Routing (MER)” as shown the figure below and click on next

The following dialog box will appear


7. Type your branches WAN IP Address you have already taken from IT staffs as describe on the
above description on the WAN IP Address, WAN Subnet Mask and Default Gateway. Most of the
time the WAN Default Gateways is 3 less than the LAN IP Address. As shown in the above figure,
please don’t forget to configure the Primary DNS Server and Secondary DNS Server just like the
above one. The difference per branch is the LAN and WAN IP Address. After you configure the
detail in the in the above figure click on next. And the following figure will be displayed.

8. Finally restart the ADSL with the following procedures

Click on Management and then on Reset Router tabs as shown in the red arrow above. And click on
reboot icon as shown in the figure below. After a while the ADSL restarts and you can user ONMI
Note: Please don’t forget to assign the IP Address of the computer you used to configure, back to its
original IP Address (i.e back to the branch’s LAN IP Address).
