Reading Fantasy Stories

Fantasy stories like Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings are very popular among young
and adult readers around the world. One reason why fantasy stories are very popular is that
they are set in an imaginary world with imaginary characters. The most common characters
include spell-casting wizards, fire-breathing dragons, and strange-looking creatures such as
genies and dwarfs.

However, not all fantasy stories are filled with scary wizards or horrible monsters. The classic
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is one example. Written by L. Frank Baum, it is an adventure
story that uses a lot of familiar characters. It also provides readers with moral lessons.

The story is about a little girl called Dorothy who gets lost in a strange world after a terrible
tornado. The Munchkins and the Good Witch of The North tell Dorothy that she can only
return home by visiting the Emerald City, where she must ask the Wizard of Oz for help. The
Cowardly Lion, the Tin Woodman and the Scarecrow also join her adventure. Throughout
their journey along the yellow brick road to the Emerald City, each of them discovers what is
truly important to them. With its interesting characters and exciting story, The Wonderful
Wizard of Oz gives readers a different kind of experience.
