V: This story comes from "Tales of mystery and imagination. It was written by
Edgar Allan Poe in 1976

K: Today we talk about "The Tell Tale Heart", It's a classic tale of murder, madness
and betrayal.

V: The story begins with an unnamed narrator who tries to convince us that he is
not crazy, but his actions say the opposite. He was trying to prove his sanity while
describing how he was planning and executing the murder. He had been watching the
old man for weeks, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

K: The narrator had been driven to murder an old man for his "evil eye.". and he thought
that anyone could hear the old man's heartbeat, that was another reason to kill him.
narrator believes that the old man's eye is a sign of evil and that as long as the eye is
alive, the old man will continue to be evil.. It's crazy to think he said the old man didn't
hurt him. In fact, he loved the old man

v: He could not hurt the man, because his eye was always closed, the eye he hated. On
the eighth nigh he saw the eye. Also, he describes how he had killed the man after a
number of weeks of watching him.

k: and on the same day, we can see that while he was killing the man, he did not feel
bad, he felt calm. And when he finally killed the old man he felt good

K: After the crime, He had dismembered the body and hidden it under the floorboards,
but his paranoia was getting the best of him. When the three policemen knocked on the
door, he was completely quiet and gave them a tour of the house.

v: At first they talked and talked, but the man was beginning to feel tired and his head
ached. Later, a sound appeared in his ears that became louder and clearer as time
went on and in his desperation he began to speak louder and louder.

K: As the police questioned him, the narrator became more and more agitated. He
was convinced they could hear the old man's heart beating under the floor.

V: In the end, the narrator's guilt consumed him, and he confessed the crime but
was it the police who uncovered the truth, or the narrator´s own paranoia?
K: I believe that the narrator was motivated by greed, since the old man was rich
and the narrator could inherit his fortune.

V: I think, The narrator could also be motivated by a desire for power and control.
Since by killing the old man he feels superior and capable of eliminating someone
he considers evil.

K: Thats True but Also we need to consider the narrator is a character unstable
and paranoid so his motivations are unclear and can be interpreted in different
ways. And we believe he later went to a psychiatric hospital.

V: Poe´s masterful tales explore the blurred lines between reality and madness.
