Table of Laplace Transforms

Summary
I. Laplace transform of derivatives: L{ f ′(t )} = sL{ f (t )}− f (0)
L{ f ′′(t )} = s 2 F ( s ) − sf (0) − f ′(0)

II. Solving Differential Equations using Laplace transform of derivatives:

To solve linear, constant coefficient, inhomogeneous differential equations (DE) using the
Laplace transforms, follow the following 5 steps:
1- Rewrite the equation in terms of Laplace transforms.
2- Insert the given initial conditions.
3- Rearrange the expression F (s) = L{f(t)} algebraically to give the transform of the
solution.
4- Express the the transform F(s) in standard forms by partial fractions.
5- Determine the inverse transforms L-1{F(s)} to obtain the particular solution f(t) to the
DE.
