This is regarding server dismantling requests for SLES-11 GCP vm’s which is expected to start form this
week from PLC side.
Process to be followed:
Before proceeding for GCP server dismantle, please make sure requested source GCP server migrated
vm has backup enabled on EOL side.
E.g. – If you receive dismantle request for source GCP server vlgcipa9 then cross check if EOL server
vlvcipa9 is listed in below wiki.
If the EOL server is listed in wiki
https://wiki.one.int.sap/wiki/display/VCoCC/DOC_Cohesity+Backup+Schedule then dismantled can be
triggered for source GCP (wdf.sap.corp) server.
In case, if the vm is not listed then please contact Koenig, Luisa & Doehring, Andreas and request to
trigger the backup. After confirmation, GCP server can be dismantled.

GCP DMZ & Zone 3 concept
Wednesday, September 6, 2023 3:24 PM
Hello Colleagues,
• From DMZ servers auto mounts will not be accessible, & outside servers we can’t reach.
For more details about GCP DMZ please refer - https://wiki.one.int.sap/wiki/x/-mCGsw
Zone-3 (sap-dev-11)
Eg : vlgcierx
By the network tags we can conclude that servers is in zone3.
• From zone-3 tagged servers most of the auto mounts are accessible but outside servers
of zone we can’t reach.

Hi Team,
If you get any ticket stating CMD is displaying the error “ not recognized as an internal or external
command “ whenever you run any command.
Steps to follow up :
You need to check if the command’s location is added to the PATH. If it’s not, you can add the command’s location
to the PATH. You can do this by following the steps below:
– In the “System Variables” section, scroll down and look for the “Path” variable.
– – Copy the path location and paste it on the Non-Working server by Click on “Edit” and add the path to the
directory containing the command and reboot the server.

Ccloud Ephemeral disks
Thursday, September 21, 2023 4:04 PM
We can see below instructions from CCloud team for Ephemeral disks disk issue.
=====================================================================================
================================================================
Here are the general steps on upgrading your windows server containing ephemeral disks:
1. Backup all important data: Ephemeral disks do not retain data after the machine is shut down, so
always back up important data on a more permanent storage solution.
2. Set up a new machine with an ephemeral disk but with Windows Server 2016: On most cloud
platforms, you can select the operating system during the setup of a new instance.
3. Install necessary applications: Set up and configure all the applications you had on your old server to
the new one.
4. Migrate your data: Move any data necessary from your backup into the new machine. This step may
be fast or slow depending on the amount of the data, the machines, and the network speed.
5. Testing: Do some comprehensive testing to make sure everything is running smoothly on the new set
6. Shut down and Decommission the old machine: Once you're certain everything is working correctly on
the new machine, you can finally shut down and decommission the one running Windows Server 2012.
Kindly use this as a guide and if you need further help please reopen the ticket.

Hi Colleagues,
• If no matching node group, change the machine type to a matching node group’s machine type or
select the old machine type to bring up the VM to check with us.

Bijo

Points to remember:
✓ Ask for downtime and check whether the ticket is change request.
✓ First search for a reference server which contains the required OS version
✓ List out repolist and check difference between current and reference server.
✓ If repos are not matching, take a backup of current repos in main server and copy all the repos
from reference server

Hello Colleagues,

When checked SID Q3A is migrated to EOL server ( GCP to VMware) having hostname as vlvdbq3a &
vlvciq3a.
So both the alias ldciq3a & lddbq3a are assigned to vlvdbq3a & vlvciq3a.
Both the server (vlvdbq3a & vlvciq3a) is powered off currently in VMWare. So login is not possible.

c5367262@dlm-lts01:~> nslookup ldciq3a
Server: 127.0.0.1
Address: 127.0.0.1#53
Non-authoritative answer:
ldciq3a.devsys.net.sap canonical name = vlvciq3a.devsys.net.sap.
Name: vlvciq3a.devsys.net.sap
Address: 10.188.253.209
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So kindly check with requestor whether we need to power on the migrated EOL servers.
