PERFORMANCE TASK
Mathematics 8
Task Guidelines:
Project Design: This project shall aim the students to identify different points in the cartesian
coordinate system. As the students work on this project, they shall illustrate the design of
their house and able to apply the skills they acquired during the discussions on cartesian
coordinate system.
Group Formation: The students will work individually.

Tasks:
1. Create a Coordinate Plane House:
• Design your house using only straight lines between points.
• Include at least 50 ordered pairs (points) in your design. Some points can be repeated.
• Ensure that your design uses points in all four quadrants of the coordinate plane.
• Incorporate at least 10 shapes into your design.

2. Document Points and Quadrants:

• Record each ordered pair you use to plot your house.
• Identify which quadrants or axis (e.g., x-axis or y-axis) each point belongs to.

3. Answer Follow-up Questions:

• Reflect on and write answers to the following questions:
(a) How did you decide the placement of the points in your design to ensure all four
quadrants were used effectively?
(b) Can you explain how you determined which ordered pairs belong to each quadrant or
axis?
(c) If someone recreated your house based on your instructions, what challenges might
they face, and how could you improve your guide?

4. Compile in Portfolio:
• Gather all your materials, including the coordinate plane, instructions, ordered pair table,
and answer follow-up questions, into a neat portfolio.
• Add personal touches that showcase creativity and resourcefulness.

5. Submit by Deadline:
• Ensure your project is completed and submitted by December 9, 2024.

Basic Guidelines:
I. Neatness and Legibility:
a. Make sure your coordinate plane design is clean and visually appealing.
b. Your instructions should be easy to follow and free from errors.

II. Accuracy:
a. Double-check that all ordered pairs and quadrants are correctly labeled.
b. Ensure directions align perfectly with your plotted points.

III. Creativity:
a. Use different shapes creatively to make your design unique and interesting.
b. Consider coloring the coordinate plane to enhance presentation (optional but adds points).

IV. Compliance with requirements:

a. Use only straight lines for your shapes.
b. Cover all four quadrants as instructed.

V. Adherence to Deadlines:
• Submit your work on time to avoid deductions in scoring.
