(a) How do you evaluate information from the Internet? (10 marks)

(c) Describe any two software applications that are used to check academic
integrity. (8 marks)

Question 2

“Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed
and digested.” Francis Bacon, 1625 as cited in Nyuke (2012). From this statement it
can be inferred that reading can be tackled in different ways or techniques
depending on what one seeks to achieve.

(a) Discuss the different types of barriers to communication. (10 marks)

(b) Give an illustration of the communication process. (10 marks)

Question 4

(a) What is the difference between the Internet and the Web (www)? (2 marks)

(b) The Internet was designed to provide for unrestricted exchange of


information. Anybody can create their own website and upload information
hence Internet consists of lots of different bits and pieces, each of which has
an owner. Some of these owners can control the quality and level of access
you have to the information.

As a scholar, you want to ensure that your scholarly work is of the expected
standard. Describe how you would evaluate information you find on the
Internet. (18 marks)
