Statistics Assignment Solution
1. Data Table
X (Pairs of sneakers Frequenc Relative Cumulative Relative
owned) y (f) Frequency (RF) Frequency (CRF)
1 2 0.05 0.05
2 5 0.125 0.175
3 8 0.2 0.375
4 12 0.3 0.675
5 12 0.3 0.975
6 0 0.0 0.975
7 1 0.025 1.0
2. Mean (̅x)
The mean of the data is calculated as follows:
Mean (̅x) = 3.775

3. Standard Deviation (s)

The standard deviation of the data is:
s = 1.291

4. First Quartile (Q1)

The first quartile is located at position: (n + 1) / 4 = 10.25
Using cumulative frequencies, Q1 falls in the group X = 3.

5. Median (Q2)
The median is located at position: (n + 1) / 2 = 20.5
Using cumulative frequencies, Q2 falls in the group X = 4.

6. Third Quartile (Q3)

The third quartile is located at position: 3(n + 1) / 4 = 30.75
Using cumulative frequencies, Q3 falls in the group X = 5.

7. Percent Owning At Least 5 Pairs

The percentage of students owning at least 5 pairs is:
Percent = (Sum of frequencies for X >= 5 / n) 100 = 32.5%

8. 40th Percentile (P40)

The 40th percentile is located at position: 0.4 n = 16.0
Using cumulative frequencies, P40 falls in the group X = 4.

9. 90th Percentile (P90)

The 90th percentile is located at position: 0.9 n = 36.0
Using cumulative frequencies, P90 falls in the group X = 5.
