The principle of each working mode is described in the following table :

Working Mode Working Mode Description

Determined License mode

A Determined License is designed to run on a single registered

workstation. It is a standalone license; the workstation does not need
to be connected to a network to register its license.
Concurrent License
mode

A Concurrent License mode is designed to allow from one up to a

predefined number of simultaneously connected workstations to run
the application (according to the number of users purchased). The
Concurrent License Service shall be installed on the AGS Server
(but the service must not be installed on an AGS workstation).
Note: each workstation that needs to run the application must stay
connected to the network (to the AGS Server, that acts as a license
server) as long as the application is being executed.
Note: the application installation and usage does not depend of the type of working mode. The only
difference between a Determined License and a Concurrent License is the location of the access key:
 With a Determined License, the access key is located on the workstation,
 With a Concurrent License, the access key is located on the AGS Server (on which will run the
License Server).

The path must be accessible by all workstations so it has to begin by:
 a valid server name (recommended solution)
 or IP address (in case of problem with server name method). But in this case, the
server IP address should be a fixed IP address.
From the workstations, the connected user must have the right to write on this folder. Here,
“Apps” is the share name defined in the precedent step of the installation

Note: according to the configuration, a problem of flight data storage can occur at the end
of the flight input.
This problem is visible when the flight display does not show any data.
In this case, it is necessary to map a driver letter to all the workstation

4.4. ADDITIONAL OPERATION AFTER INSTALLATION ON A REMOTE
WORKSTATION (CONNECTED THROUGH LOW SPEED NETWORK)
This chapter concerns an AGS remote workstation connected to a server through a low speed
network.

4.4.1. Local Flight Data

We strongly advise to manage locally the stored flight raw data in a workstation disk, in order to
decrease the time to analyse flight data (Function Engineering data display and Replay)

4.4.1.1. How to configure local flight data path

For that, please follow this procedure:
 After the AGS Installation, please modify the registry and add the following string key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAGEM\AGS\<Database Name>
local_fltdatadir=C:\FLTDATAL

where <Database Name> is the name chosen for the database; like AGSMulti

Example of Registry with AGSMulti:

 To create the flight data directory, select the "Run..." item in the Windows "Start" menu, and
execute the command

"<Program Files>\SAGEM\AGS\<Database Name>\MKFLTDIR C:\FLTDATAL"

where <Program Files> is to be replaced by the Program Files folder

Notes:
 In all the workstations (remote or not), the AGS searches first for a local flight data directory, and if
not found, will take the server flight data directory.

4.4.1.2. How to synchronize flight data with server

It is necessary to synchronize the flight data between local path and server one:
 From local path to server to add the new locally analyzed flight data to the server
 From server to local path to be able to analyze flight added in the server

For that, any synchronization tool can be used, like the free tool SyncBack which allow synchronizing
two folders in a scheduled task (for instance, every hour or every night).

8. USING THE TRAINING DATABASE

When the AGS is installed, another icon called 'AGS Training xxxx' is also installed in a local drive. This
AGS configuration allows the user to familiarize with the AGS without danger of modifying real
programming.
In addition to the initial database which already contains a programming configuration (A320 database
version), the training database contains media, flights, events and snapshot parameters for statistic
purpose.
To see the AGS training description, please refer to Appendix I of the User Manual.

Note:1 The database used for the training has not been built from real flights but only created from
laboratory data, with the only purpose to be able to display consistent numerical data and
aesthetical graphics.
Note 2: In case of AGS upgrade, the AGS training database will be also updated

9. PRE-DEFINED CONFIGURATION

The AGS system is delivered 'Ready to work', that is to say, the initial database contains a configuration
which allows the user to work immediately with the AGS. This configuration includes:
 A user 'STATION' without password, with all access rights,
 A default aircraft called 'F-AAAA',
 A default database version no 10385 for A320,
 A corresponding A320 flight data file for test FT.AGS in the '<Database Name>\FLTREC\A320\10385'
directory,
 Several screen template for manual analysis,
 Some pre-defined reports including statistics reports (in the Corporate documents section).
 A default 'SAGEM' logo.
Moreover, a file export of the parameter set and the pre-defined reports is available in the '<Database
Name>\SET' directory of the database disk.

HOW TO CHANGE THE LOGO IN THE AGS REPORT

To change the logo in the AGS report, you must copy your logo to replace the default logo file ‘<Database
Name>\LOGO\LOGODEF.BMP' in the database disk.

Note: This bitmap file (65536 colors) will be displayed and resized with the size proportional to 160 * 32
pixels.
If the customer logo has not the proportion width / height near 5 (case of a square logo for
example), it should be re-designed filled with blank at the right part to reach this proportion.

10. INSTALLATION OF SEVERAL DATABASES ON SERVER

10.1. PURPOSE
Two reasons can justify creation of several databases :
- To separate physically fleets by airline, aircraft type or A/C Tail list.
- To have an historical database.
For the installation of several databases, please refer to the previous chapter “Multi-User AGS
configuration”.

10.1.1. Separate fleet

The purpose of creating several database is to separate physically the fleet by airline, by type (B737,
A320, etc…) or by A/C Tail list (for important companies). In this case, each database will be managed
by its own staff.

10.1.1.1. Separate fleet by aircraft type

The following example shows case of a big airline with fleet mainly composed by A320 and B737
which want to physically separate its database in three parts. Three databases allow managing this
airline.
On server, following databases are installed:
1. A database dedicated to fleet of A320
2. A database dedicated to fleet of B737
3. A database for others aircraft

10.1.2. Historical database

The purpose of creating an additional database is to have an historical database, containing the flight
data from the 5 last years for example. So you can process statistics on a longer period without slow
down the analysis process of new flights on the multi database. So the server will manage two
different databases:
 A main database for daily task with 18 months of data,
 An historical database to keep trace of flight result and process investigation on a long period (5 years).
Main Server

In order to improve statistic performance on biggest historical databases, the process can be moved
on local AGS workstation, by creating a temporary database.

10.2. DATABASE MANAGEMENT

10.2.1. Purpose
Each database must have the "AGS database management" module on server or on a workstation.
Several databases can be managed by the server or a particular workstation:

10.2.2. Advice for the management for several Database

Some precautions must be taken, principally for flight de-identification, because management of each
database is separated: be careful to program the flight de-identification configuration for all databases
in the same way.

10.3. HISTORICAL DATABASE MANAGEMENT

10.3.1. Historical database creation

If AGS Database is already installed on a server, you can add a new database to work with (see
chapter 4.3.2.3). If it is not the case, you must install first AGS Database (see chapter 4.3.2.1).

10.3.2. Access to historical database on a workstation

Once the new database is created, you have to connect it to a workstation. If you want to use a station
only for this job, then install AGS Workstation on a computer (see chapter 4.3.3). If you want to use a
workstation that already exists, then change its configuration (see chapter 4.3.3.2.2).

10.3.3. Historical database update

To update the historical database from the central database; please use the "Database management"
module, function "Transfer/Copy Flights To Another Database":

10.3.4. Historical database backup

The historical database must have a "Database management" module on a specific workstation, to
enable the database backup
