ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI):

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a branch of computer science that focuses on creating systems capable of
performing tasks that typically require human intelligence. These tasks include decision-making,
problem-solving, speech recognition, visual perception, and language translation. AI aims to mimic
cognitive functions, enabling machines to learn from experiences and adapt to new inputs.

Core Areas of AI:

• Machine Learning (ML): A subset of AI that uses algorithms to analyze data, learn patterns,
and make predictions or decisions without explicit programming. It includes supervised,
unsupervised, and reinforcement learning.

• Natural Language Processing (NLP): Enables machines to understand, interpret, and respond
to human language. Applications include chatbots, sentiment analysis, and voice assistants.

• Computer Vision: Allows machines to interpret and make decisions based on visual data like
images and videos. It's widely used in facial recognition and object detection.

• Robotics: Combines AI with mechanical engineering to create robots capable of performing


complex tasks, such as surgery or space exploration.

Applications:

AI is transforming industries, including healthcare (diagnostic tools), finance (fraud detection),


transportation (autonomous vehicles), and entertainment (personalized recommendations). Despite
its rapid growth, ethical considerations like bias, privacy, and job displacement remain critical
challenges.
