Drive and Docs:

Google Drive encompasses Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides, which
are a part of an office suite that permits collaborative editing of documents,
spreadsheets, presentations, drawings, forms, and more. Files created and edited
through the office suite are saved in Google Drive.

This provides easy and secure access to all of your content through which you can
easily Store, share, and collaborate on files and folders from any mobile device, tablet,
or computer

Available for all G Suite users within IISc.

Gmail:

Turned OFF. Most users already have personal Gmail IDs. Further all IISc users have
official email IDs on Office 365. This feature is turned off since it would lead to an
inconvenient management of your emails. We can not auto forward mails from the
official office 365 account as your Gsuite ID is the same.

Google Chat and Classic Hangouts:

The classic Hangouts to Google Chat migration started in earnest for G Suite
customers. Free accounts are expected to get transitioned next, and there are now
signs that this is underway. Over the past few days, classic Hangouts users are
receiving messages in Google Chat.

Available for all G Suite users within IISc.

Google Vault:

Google Vault is a core G Suite (also known as a Google Apps) app that allows you to
determine what content is retained and then offers easy functionality to search for and
export data to make sure it meets your eDiscovery and compliance needs.

A misunderstanding made by some G Suite users is that Google Vault acts as a

backup and restore service for all of their G Suite data. This is not the case – and is
an assumption that we want to address early! Google Vault is for archiving, not backing
up. You can find out more about backup and restore further into this article.

Use Cases for Google Vault

Archiving – Google Vault allows admin to create retention rules that control the length
of time that data is stored for, before being deleted from user accounts and systems.
Legal Holds – Administrators can place a hold on individual users to ensure their data
is retained as long as required for legal purposes.
Search – Google’s powerful search capabilities can be used on all data within an
organisations domain; by user account, date, file type or keyword.
Export – All data can be exported from Google Vault for further processing and
external use.
Audit Reports – These reports can be used to find out about the particular actions
users have taken during a specific time period.

Available for all G Suite users within IISc.

Google Groups for Business:

Groups for Business (G Suite core service)

Google Groups for Business is a G Suite core service. The administrator, controls
your organization's settings for this service in the Google Admin console. Groups for

can do in the Google Groups interface (groups.google.com).

If Groups for Business is ON and you have any G Suite license:

• You can use the Google Groups interface, groups.google.com.

• You can let users create and manage their own groups.

additional service is OFF or ON.

If Groups for Business is ON and you have a G Suite Basic license or higher:

messages to Google Groups.
