1. MOUNTING THE SYSTEM FILTER BOX

1. Remove the dummy plate used for testing the RF shielded room. Clean the contact areas of the System
Filter Box (SFB) and of the RF enclosure.
2. Remove the upper aluminum covers from the SFB to gain access to the handles. Also remove the
middle copper cover.
3. Clean the contact area's of the RF cage interface and of the SFB.
4. Hang the SFB on the M10 bolts (do not tighten) prepared by the RF supplier. Only lift at the handles.
5. With the SFB four (4) strips are delivered for protecting the cables against sharp edges of the hole in the
SFB, see figure 2. Place the protection strips at the positions pointed out in figure 1, mount the strips
with M5 screws with washers delivered by RF cage supplier. Figure 3 shows the result with the upper
protection strip mounted seen from the technical room.
6. Mount all remaining M5 screws with washers delivered by RF cage supplier.
7. Tighten the M10 nuts.

2. MOUNTING THE GRADIENT SWITCH (INTERA NOVA DUAL ONLY)

The end of the crate, just below the feet of the Explorer switch, can be removed before rising up the gradient
switch. To rise up the gradient switch two engineers are required.

The gradient switch must be mounted to the wall, using the four 10 cm high wall brackets. The gradient
switch can either be positioned in front of it the system filter box (See Figure 4.), partly in front of it or to the
right of it. The position in front of the system filter box or to the right of it makes routing of the gradient cables
easier. Notice that you must connect the signal cables from the examination room side of the system filter
box. Position the Explorer switch as close as possible to the system filter box cable opening, but keep 10 cm
distance between the Explorer switch and the wall.
The explorer switch can either be installed directly on the computer floor (if available) or lowered on to the
floor of the technical room.

4. MOUNTING THE EMERGENCY RUN DOWN UNIT (ERDU) SWITCHES

One of the ERDU switches must be mounted inside the RF shielded room and one in the control room.
Mount the ERDU switch inside the RF room to the planned position (see site planning drawings). Ask the RF
room supplier how to mount the ERDU switch in order not to damage the RF shield.

CAUTION

Be sure not to penetrate or make contact with the RF shielding when installing the ERDU switch inside the
RF room.

5. MOUNTING THE CEILING SPEAKERS

Two ceiling speakers have to be mounted. One above the patient support and the other one at the rear of
the magnet (see figures). The distance of 1200mm is an average in order to obtain a good sound quality on
both sides of the magnet. The absolute minimum distance at the rear side is 0.55m. In that case, the quality
is decreased but is still acceptable. As an alternative, it is possible to mount the speaker on the wall. Use one
of the delivered build-on boxes.

10. POSITIONING CABINETS

Position all cabinets into the technical room according to the Site-Planning drawings. For dimensions of
cabinets and service area consult the Intera Planning Reference Data.
Level all cabinets using a spirit level and tighten all feet.

10.1. GRADIENT AMPLIFIER 271

Unpacking:

WARNING

Under no circumstances move the packaging if it is partly unpacked. When the front riser assembly is
removed, the front wheels will rest on metal plates. The rear wheels are elevated and the cabinet will rest on
the riser blocs. The cabinet then will be slightly tilted forward. To move the cabinet with its packing in this
configuration is very dangerous.

The riser is marked with:

DO NOT DISCARD
DO NOT TRANSPORT UNLESS THIS ASSEMBLY IS INSTALLED

_______________

1. Remove all screws circled in red. Remove front panel and the right side panel of the crate.
2. Remove the front riser assembly. This supports the weight of the cabinet and protects the casters
during shipment.
3. Remove the ramp assembly and its support, attached at the inner right side panel. Place the heavy
wooden bar halfway under the ramp for additional support. Attach the ramp assembly into the slots at
the front of the pallet.
4. Use the nylon straps to pull the amplifier down the ramp to floor level.

10.1.1. INSTALLATION FOR THE INTERA PULSAR (COPLEY 271)

1. Move the cabinet to where it will be installed. The cabinet including the swivel wheels is 160,6 cm
high.
2. Remove the straps and plastic covering from the cabinet.
3. Adjust the cabinet levelers for stability.

10.1.2. INSTALLATION OF THE INTERA NOVA, QUASAR OR NOVA DUAL (COPLEY 271)
With the Intera Nova, Quasar or Nova Dual system, a Copley 271 master cabinet and a Copley 271 slave
cabinet is part of the configuration. The Copley 271 master cabinet has the gradient chain interface rack
(GCI) at the upper position in the cabinet. The Copley 271 slave cabinet does not have such a gradient chain
interface rack (GCI).

Mechanical interconnection:

Procedure:
1. Move the cabinets to where it will be installed and remove the straps and plastic covering from the
cabinets.
2. Master cabinet must be installed left and the slave cabinet right, faced from the front side. The
cabinets including the swivel wheels are 160,6 cm high.
3. Remove the right side panel from the master gradient amplifier rack (seen from the front).
4. Remove the left side panel from the slave gradient amplifier rack (seen from the front).

5. Move the cabinets as close as possible together.

6. Adjust the cabinet levelers to level both racks and for stability.
7. Bolt the cabinets together (See Figure 12). (Bolts are shipped with the ‘cable kit dual rack 271’ which is
used to interconnect both racks electrically.)
The master cabinet and slave cabinet must be bolted together for stability and guarantee
EMC.

Electrical interconnection:

The ‘cable kit dual rack 271’ is used to interconnect the Copley 271 master rack and the Copley 271 slave rack.
For installation of these cables refer to the following drawings in the drawings manual:
• Z3-6.4.1 Layout gradient amplifier Copley 271;
• Z3-6.4.2 Axis connectors and 40kW DC power supply connectors Copley 271;
• Z3-6.4.4 Front view GCI;
• Z5-6.4.1 Internal signal cable plan Copley 271 dual

Remarks to the internal cabling:

• The ADCI unit in top rear side of the Copley 271 slave cabinet is not used. The cable coming form J7 of
the X axis of the Copley 271 slave cabinet must be connected to the ADCI unit slave connector of the
Copley 271 master cabinet.
• Ensure that the ‘master’ labeled connectors are connected to the master rack and that the ‘slave’ labeled
connectors are connected to the slave rack for the cables which interconnects J8 of the X,Y and Z
master axis to the corresponding slave axis and the cable which interconnects J3 of the 40 kW DC
power supplies.
• The high voltage cables (+HV and –HV), which interconnect the high voltage outputs of the 40kW DC
power supply in the Copley 271 master rack and the Copley 271 slave rack are connected to the output
terminals of each of these power supplies. (Only for the early racks, the high voltage cables must be
connected to the bus bar directly behind the 300A fuse in the back of the rack.) See Figure 13.

Figure 13 – high voltage interconnection

The high voltage interconnection cables

are directly connected to the output
terminals of both DC power supplies.
