Conditionals

Complete the sentences using the correct forms of the verbs in parentheses. Use first,
second, or third conditionals based on the context.

Achieving success in life is often about making the right decisions at the right time. If people
____________________ (1) (set) clear goals from the beginning, they are more likely to
succeed. For example, if someone ____________________ (2) (not plan) their time wisely,
they may struggle to meet deadlines and lose valuable opportunities.

Success also depends on how we react to challenges. If you __________________ (3) (face)
an unexpected obstacle, the ability to stay calm and adapt can make all the difference.
However, if people ______________________ (4) (give up) too quickly, they might never
realize how close they were to achieving their goals.

Looking back, it’s common for people to think about what they could have done differently. If
famous inventors ___________________ (5) (stop) working after their first failure, many of
the world’s greatest inventions would not exist today. For example, if Thomas Edison
__________________ (6) (not persist) after hundreds of unsuccessful attempts, we might not
have the light bulb today.

In a team environment, conditional thinking plays a vital role. If team members

__________________ (7) (not communicate) effectively, misunderstandings can occur,
leading to delays and frustration. On the other hand, if everyone _____________________ (8)
(share) their ideas openly, they can find innovative solutions to problems.

Looking to the future, it’s important to consider how present actions shape what lies ahead. If
we _____________________ (9) (invest) in education and technology now, society will
benefit greatly in the coming decades. Conversely, if we __________________________ (10)
(ignore) these areas, we could face serious challenges, such as unemployment or economic
stagnation.

Ultimately, if individuals ____________________ (11) (believe) in themselves and take

consistent action, they can overcome almost any difficulty. However, if they
____________________ (12) (wait) for perfect conditions, they might miss opportunities that
could change their lives forever.
