Pursuant to the Division Memorandum, No. 202, s. 2024, s upports the
conduct of School-Based Training on the Indigenous Peoples Education (IPEd)
component of the Matatag Curriculum for SY. 2024-2025, the school-based training
was scheduled on December 12, 2024, to ensure that the curriculum respects and
promotes the identities and values of indigenous peoples.

Participants arrived early at the venue for the preparation of preliminary

activities and opening program. Different topics were discussed to ensure that the
education of indigenous peoples is culturally rooted and responsive to their context like
Mapped Learning Competencies, Banghay Aralin, Indigenous Knowledge Systems and
Practices, Indigenous Learning Systems and Culture, Philippine Education System and
IP Communities, Intro to Contextualization and Preparations for Re-entry and Ways
Forward.

skills and even personal experiences that will contribute to the holistic development of
students, including cultural awareness and personal growth. Sharing knowledge among
teachers enhances the quality of IPEd by introducing effective teaching strategies.
Participants engaged themselves actively during the discussion. They presented their
outputs successfully.

In the closing program, each participant gave their impressions regarding

the speakers and flow of the training. It was fruitful and they didn’t seem bored with
different activities. They truly accepted the challenge for the benefit of our learners
and received the certificates with a great smile.

IV. Results/Findings
This school-based training on the indigenous people was successfully
conducted through active participation of the teaching and non-teaching
personnel of Pinagbirayan Elementary School with the cooperation of the
resource speakers.

The objectives were followed and accomplished properly by the

facilitators, committee members and members of technical working group
through proper coordination of the school head. Truly, in unity, there is
strength and when there is teamwork and collaboration wonderful things can
be achieved. This was ended with an awesome achievement.

V. Recommendations
It is highly recommended to support continuous training opportunities
for teachers to deepen understanding of indigenous cultures and education
methodologies. Increase collaboration with indigenous community leaders and elders
to ensure that the curriculum remains culturally relevant and respectful.
