Dosage
For adults and elderly
Active duodenal ulcer, active benign gastric ulcer and anastomotic ulcer
The recommended oral dose is PARIET® 20 mg administered once daily in the morning.
Most patients with active duodenal ulcers heal within four weeks. However, some patients need an additional four weeks of
treatment to heal completely. Most patients with active benign gastric ulcers heal within six weeks. However, as above, some
patients need an additional six weeks of treatment to heal completely.

Ulcerative or erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)

The recommended oral dose for this condition is PARIET® 20 mg taken once daily for four to eight weeks. Dosage of PARIET®
20 mg taken orally twice daily for an additional 8 weeks when proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy is ineffective in patients with
reflux esophagitis.

Long-term maintenance treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease

In long-term treatment, a maintenance dose of PARIET® 20 mg once daily may be administered depending on patient response.

Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other pathological hypersecretory conditions

Dosage needs to vary depending on the patient. Start with rabeprazole sodium 60 mg per day, which can then be increased to 100
mg once daily or 60 mg twice daily. Some patients require divided doses. Medication should be continued as long as clinically
necessary. Some patients with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome have been treated continuously for up to a year.

Eliminate H. pylori
Patients infected with H.pylori should be treated with eradication therapy. Combination therapy for 7 days is recommended as
follows: PARIET® 20 mg twice daily + clarithromycin 500 mg twice daily and amoxicillin 1 g twice daily.

Kidney failure and liver failure

No dose adjustment is required for patients with renal or hepatic impairment.

For children
The safety and efficacy of rabeprazole sodium 20 mg for the short-term treatment of GERD (up to 8 weeks) in adolescents 12
years of age and older is supported by:
+ Extrapolated results from adequate and well-controlled studies to support the efficacy of rabeprazole sodium in adults.
+ Safety and pharmacokinetic studies were performed in adolescent patients. The recommended dose for adolescents 12
years of age and older is 20 mg once daily for 8 weeks.
+ The safety and effectiveness of rabeprazole sodium in the treatment of GERD in children under 12 years of age have not
been established. The safety and effectiveness of rabeprazole sodium for other indications have not been established in
pediatric patients.

How to use
Taken orally. For those indications for taking the drug once a day, PARIET® 20mg tablets should be taken in the morning, before
eating, although neither the time of the day nor the type of food has an effect on the effect of rabeprazole sodium, such a morning
adminstration facilitates compliance with treatment. Patients should be cautioned not to chew or crush the tablets, but to swallow
the tablets whole.
