ARGUMENTATIVE TYPE
This speech presentation aims to secure the agreement of the audience. The speaker uses arguments, proofs,
evidence, facts, and statistics. The objective is to win the audience to the speaker's side by sheer force of logic and
sound reasoning. Arguing is the process of proving a proposition with reasons and evidence. The essentials of argument
or reasoning are the claim, the data, and the reasoning process. The claim refers to the statement of what you want the
audience to believe. It is the speech goal or proposition. Claims maybe of fact, definition, cause, or value.

PERSUASIVE TYPE
This presentation aims to convince or lead the audience to an action according to the call of the topic. This
may move the listeners to make decisions, change their minds or take any necessary action. The kind of appeal or
argument can enhance the objective of this speech type. The use of logical appeal relies on facts, figures and authorities
to illustrate the position of the speaker. If the speaker prefers to use the emotional side of the listeners, this could also
be another probable appeal which is known as the emotional appeal. The character appeal may be suitable to the
speaker's style if the intention is to employ his/her own credibility as an expert of the field.

It is significantly necessary to know the profile of the audience when creating business presentations. The
speaker has to assess the needs and expectations of the audience, their history, authority and research. It is a must that
the speaker prepares his/her paper for the audience because the merit of the presentation and its success will be
dependent on the target audience. The collected information about the listeners will complete the advance preparation of
the speaker since the overall impact of the speech will be further evaluated by its recipients; the audience.

The outcome of the presentation is foreseen during the preparatory stage of the business presentation. The
speaker is anticipated to project and plan for his/ her objective; what he wants to achieve as a result of his/her speech is
a major concern of the planner/ presenter.

No members of the audience will be willing to pay attention to a speaker who does not possess the character
with credibility. The educational background, expertise of the field, the zest in the presentation, and the appearance will
encompass a true speaker.

stance.

2. Write and organize your thoughts: Develop an argumentative speech, ensuring it follows the structure
below:

Introduction: Start with a hook to engage the audience, clearly state your position, and preview
your main arguments.
Body: Present 2-3 key arguments supporting your stance. Use facts, evidence, and examples.
Address a counterargument and refute it logically.
Conclusion: Restate your thesis and summarize your main points. End with a strong, memorable
statement or call to action.

examples and details.
Counterargument. Counterargument is clearly acknowledged and effectively refuted with 15
logical reasoning.
Delivery. Confident, clear, and well-paced delivery with excellent eye contact and voice 10
control.
