KNOWLEDGE
• A familiarity with someone or
something, that can include
facts, information, descriptions acquired
through experience or education.

It can refer to both the theoretical or practical


understanding of a subject.
SKILL
An ability and capacity acquired through
deliberate, systematic, and sustained effort to
smoothly and adaptively carryout complex
activities or job functions involving ideas
(cognitive skills), things (technical skills), and/or
people (interpersonal skills).
BEHAVIOR
A response of an individual or group to an
action, environment, person, or stimulus.

encompass the
knowledge, skills, and attributes
required for successful

Competency model delineates the specific mix of
Knowledge, Skills, Attributes
required to perform a role.
It’s effective tool for selection, training and development, succession
planning and performance management.
Competency models concentrate on desirable behavior rather than
personality traits because personality traits are difficult to measure.
