Topic Research Assignment Topic:

"The Impact of Leadership Styles on Employee Motivation and Job


Satisfaction in Malaysian Organizations"
Objective:
This research aims to explore how different leadership styles
(transformational, transactional, and laissez-faire) influence employee
motivation and job satisfaction in the context of Malaysian organizations. It
will examine the practical implications of leadership styles on the behavior
of employees and the overall work culture, providing actionable insights for
managers and leaders in Malaysia.

Research Areas to Explore:


1. Overview of Leadership Styles:
o Define and explain the main leadership styles:
transformational, transactional, and laissez-faire.
o Discuss the characteristics and behaviors of leaders associated
with each style.
2. Employee Motivation and Job Satisfaction:
o Define employee motivation and job satisfaction.
o Examine the factors that contribute to motivation and job
satisfaction in the workplace.
o Analyze how these factors vary across different industries in
Malaysia.
3. The Relationship between Leadership Styles and Employee
Outcomes:
o Investigate how different leadership styles impact employee
motivation and job satisfaction.
o Explore the potential positive and negative outcomes of each
leadership style on employee performance and organizational
effectiveness.
4. Organizational Context in Malaysia:
o Consider the cultural, economic, and social factors in
Malaysia that influence leadership and employee behavior.
o Identify challenges faced by Malaysian organizations in
aligning leadership styles with employee needs.
5. Recommendations for Malaysian Managers:
o Provide practical recommendations on how leaders in
Malaysian organizations can improve employee motivation
and job satisfaction through effective leadership styles.

Research Methodology:
 Primary Research:
Conduct surveys or interviews with employees and managers in
various Malaysian organizations to gather data on leadership styles
and their effects on motivation and job satisfaction.
 Secondary Research:
Review existing literature on leadership styles, employee motivation,
and job satisfaction, focusing on studies within the Malaysian
context.

 1500 - 2000 words
 One-sided A4 paper
 Arial / Times New Roman 12, 1.5 spacing and justified.
 Proper headers, footers and table of contents
 All pages in the report should be numbered except for the cover page,
student declaration, question, marking criteria and Turnitin report.
 Binding (comb-binding). Sequence of binding:-

- 5: Presentation slides *
- 6: Assignment document
- 7: Turnitin report – the summary report showing all the
percentage matches and also the detailed report highlighting the
parts of the report that are matched.

References  Recommended references include. Books, journals, conference


papers, thesis, documentaries, magazines, newspapers, websites,
online business portals etc. are recommended.
 Unverified sources like Wiki sites, SlideShare, other students’
assignments, etc. are strictly not allowed.
