Lab Manual: How to Install MySQL Server

Objective:
To install and configure MySQL Server on a Windows machine and verify its operation.
Requirements:
 A Windows operating system.
 Internet access.
 Administrative rights on the machine.

Procedure:

1. Download MySQL Server:

 Step 1: Open a web browser and visit the official MySQL download page:

https://www.mysql.com/downloads

 Step 2: Scroll down the page and click on MySQL Community (GPL) Downloads.
 Step 3: On the next window, locate MySQL Installer For Windows and click on it.

 Step 4: Select the appropriate installer based on your operating system (typically, choose
the first option).

 Step 5: On the download page, click on No thanks, just start my download to begin
downloading the installer.
2. Install MySQL Server:

 Step 1: Once the download is complete, run the installer by double-clicking the .exe file.
 Step 2: During the setup, choose Full setup type.

 Step 3: Follow the on-screen instructions and click on Download and then Execute to
install the necessary components.
 Step 4: Continue to click Next on the following windows until the installation begins.
 Step 5: When prompted, set the root password.
 Step 6: Continue clicking Next until you reach the final step of the installation.
 Step 7: Click Finish to complete the installation.
