Course Outline
IT Support for Office Management

Objective: The objective of this course is to provide necessary knowledge about computer
hardware setup and fixing, operating system installation and fixing, computer network
operation and fixing, software management, web management, online video conference
management, etc.

Targeted Audience: People who want to have some good computer foundation and want to
work as IT support staff in different office environments.

Course Level: Foundation

Course Content Summary:


 Computer hardware functionality, operation, and basic maintenance operation
 Necessary and popular computer software operation, and maintenance operation
 Operation system functionality, operation, and maintenance operation
 Web applications management
 Online video systems management
 Etc.

Course Outline:
Lecture 1: Introduction to IT Support
Understanding the role and responsibilities of an IT support technician.
Overview of IT components and infrastructure in an office setting.
Overview of the Course Curriculum

Lecture 2: Computer Fundamentals and System Components


Learn about computer fundamentals and history.
Classification of Computer Based on Size and Capacity.
Differentiate between hardware and software.
Learn about computer storage devices and memory types (RAM, ROM, Bit, Byte, Kilobyte,
Megabyte, Terabyte).

Module 3: Computer Hardware Fundamentals


Difference between computer hardware and software.
Understanding various computer hardware components (CPU, RAM, Motherboard, HDD,
etc.).
Assembling and disassembling a computer.
Diagnosing basic hardware issues and troubleshooting techniques.

Lecture 4: BIOS, Boot Processes and Operating System Fundamentals

Understanding the BIOS, Boot and its functions.


Configuring BIOS & Boot settings.
Troubleshooting boot-related issues.

Module 5: Operating System Fundamentals

Introduction to various operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux).


Partitioning and disk management.
OS (Windows/Linux) installation, configuration, and updates.
User management and permission.
Basic settings and troubleshooting OS-related problems.

Lecture 6: OS Image Backup and Recovery

Importance of OS image backup for disaster recovery.


Create OS image backups using tools like Windows Backup/Acronis/Onekey recovery, etc.
Restore OS from image backups and troubleshooting backup-related issues.
Recover PC data from a corrupted OS.
Create a custom OS (windows).

Lecture 7: Necessary Office Software

Identify essential software applications for office productivity.


Software installation, updates, and management.
Introduction to Microsoft Office Suite: An overview of the three primary applications -
Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Lecture 8: Introduction to Microsoft Office Programs

Understanding document creation, formatting, and editing for professional-looking reports


and documents using Microsoft word.
Learn basic functions to organize and analyze data effectively using Microsoft excel.
Utilize charts and filters to gain valuable insights from your data.
Create visually engaging slideshows with multimedia, animations, and slide transitions using
Microsoft PowerPoint.
Develop compelling narratives and deliver impactful presentations with confidence.

Lecture 10: Networking Fundamentals


Plan and design Small Office Home Office (SOHO) networks.
Cabling techniques using network tools, including RJ45 clipping and Cat5/6 connections.

resource allocation.
Installing OS on the Vmware or Hyper-V or any other equivalent environment and
performing backups.

Lecture 13: Windows Server Management


Introduction and Installing Windows Server 2016.
Creating and managing Active directory users, groups, and organizational units.
Creating and linking AD Group Policy.
Setting up and configuring FTP server, Managing FTP users and permissions.
Configuring DHCP server role for automatic IP address assignment.

Lecture 14: Deploying IP-PBX Solutions


Introduction to IP telephony and VoIP protocols.

Configure necessary setting like SIP Trunk, Inbound-Outbound Rules, IVR, Office time etc.
Configuring IP phones and troubleshooting IP phone connectivity.

Lecture 15: CCTV Camera Installation and Support


Understanding CCTV camera systems and their components.
Overview of maintaining CCTV cameras and DVR.

Lecture 16: Managing Email and Other Google Services


Understanding necessary Email Settings, Security, and mail backup.
Configure popular email clients like Gmail, Thunderbird, and Outlook.
Develop skills in efficiently using Google Chrome, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google
Sheets, and Google Forms for collaboration and productivity.

Lecture 17: Video Conferencing and Streaming

Acquire knowledge about streaming technologies and the devices used for live streaming

Understanding audio components in a sound system (speakers, amplifiers, mixers, etc.).

Understanding audio/video cables for sound systems.
Setting up and configuring projectors and LED displays.
Remote casting technologies (Chromecast, Miracast, etc.) and troubleshooting.

How to purchase a domain and hosting.
Managing domain panel and DNS settings.
