Notes From Lecture
Notes From Lecture
In the form of four points summarise the most interesting ideas, concepts, and theories presented by
the speaker and reflect on them (point 5) by writing how you could use them in your own academic
or professional practice. You should write about 400 words. Make sure you read Originality
Statement before you start writing. If you used generative AI tools, you cited them and included your
first draft, the exact prompt you used, and the AI’s response in an Appendix.
1. Major issues connected to population growth.
2. Declining population of Poland.
3. Problems associated with an ageing population.
4. Demographic changes in Central and Eastern Europe.
5.
In understanding the challenges of population growth, such as overuse of natural resources,
increased carbon emissions, and socioeconomic inequalities, my approach could involve crafting or
assessing policies that focus on sustainable development. Policies that promote prudent resource
management and fair economic growth will become more and more crucial as population pressure
increases, especially in urban areas. I could put this knowledge to use by supporting or investigating
laws that encourage resource transfer in ways that lessen regional inequities or that strike a balance
between growth and environmental stewardship.
Poland needs well-targeted national programs to draw in younger, productive populations, as seen
by the country's declining demographic trend, which is being driven by low birth rates and rising
emigration. In a professional context, for example, I could examine the effects of incentives like
Poland's 500+ program on birth rates and see whether they could be enhanced. Scholarly studies on
the efficacy of demographic programs in various nations can benefit from this idea. My work on
labour market strategies and policy measures for population retention may be influenced by my
understanding of the reasons behind the departure of young people and the effects of new
immigration or return migration.
The need of sustainable social policies is emphasised by the presentation's topic of ageing
populations, especially the financial burden and the effects on healthcare. I may concentrate on
studying how various nations are now assisting or planning for ageing populations. I may suggest
scalable alternatives, such community-based senior care models or incentives for later-life work, that
are suited to certain demographic contexts by examining successful models. Since it pertains to
welfare economics and healthcare policy, two areas where practical, long-term answers are essential,
this problem has substantial academic value.
Particular demographic shifts are occurring in Central and Eastern Europe, such as rural depopulation
and the resulting migratory issues. I could study the measures that various nations are putting in
place to keep their citizens and draw in new ones. Investigating successful models might enable me
to support better-informed immigration laws. Scholarly knowledge of the socioeconomic effects of
migration and how policy can influence demographic stability is enhanced by this subject.
All things considered, these ideas help me better grasp how demographics affect the need for
policies and the stability of society. I may help build solutions that address changing demographic
realities by putting these findings to use in real-world contexts, such as developing policies for elder
support, migration management, and sustainable development.
