THE PROJECT
Building Space which was constructed few decades back was purchased by
KCT and being renovated as a commercial space. Since the building has to
be designed to carry new load combinations, this space required a
structural retrofit. All the columns had to be retrofitted by either jacketing
or confinement to increase load carrying capacity and flexural strength of
the slabs had to be increased to carry new loads. In many places new
structural members like beams and slabs were added to carry extra loads.

THE SOLUTION

Fosroc being a world leader solution provider for Structural Repairs


segment proposed suitable system as per customer requirement.
For the interior columns which was easily accessible, single layer wrap
RCC Column Strengthened with Nitowrap
with Nitowrap EP(GF) Glass Fiber Sheets were used for confinement EP(GF) & finished with a plaster
of columns. In order to protect the FRP system from weathering
conditions it was protected with a plaster.
For remaining columns, Renderoc RG Microconcrete was used to increase
size of column by jacketing method.
For flat slabs, Nitowrap CFP Carbon Fiber Laminates were externally
bonded at specific locations and lengths as per the design.

THE BENEFITS

Nitowrap EP(GF) – Unidirectional Glass Fibers


used for confining columns increase axial load
carrying capacity and ductility of the columns.
Nitowrap CFP – Laminates has high strength to
weight ratio and low thickness hence doesn’t
affect headroom and increases the flexural
strength of the slabs designed to carry new Custom Designed Mold Prepared on-site for applying
loads. 2mm adhesive on Carbon Fiber Laminates

Renderoc RG – Microconcrete has very high


flow (no need of compaction), non
shrink(eliminates cracks), provides excellent
adhesion to substrate, and high strength and
requires minimal curing.

Customer found the results satisfactory since it


worked to their advantage; the FRP system
used in the internal columns saves more time
and space for productive usage. Application of Nitowrap CFP laminates on prepared
