Why Starting a Podcast is Smart ‘Ayear or so ago | was having a conversation with a friend about speaking. She really felt bummed ‘out that she didn't get more opportunities to speak and share her passionate message. She was the type of gal who kind of waited for the opportunities to come her way and when they randomly came she said a delighted, "Yes." In this middle of this conversation, | could tell she was getting dejected thinking about the huge gap between her dream to speak and the number of people who would give her an invitation to doso. At that moment it hit me! | looked her straight in the eye, and | said, "You don't need anyone to give you permission to speak! We are living in an amazing time of technology where you pick up your own microphone, do your own thing and attract your own audience." She paused and thought about that as a big smile formed on her face. Within two weeks her first, podcast episodes were live, and she was feeling happy again. As we begin this fun journey together the first thing | want you to get down deep in your heart is that you don't need anyone's permission to do this. If creating a show, speaking, developing a teaching series, recording fantastic interviews or the like is a desire of your heart, you are now on the fast track to making that desire a reality. The good news is that it doesn't even require that much money to get it going and off the ground. It will take time and possibly a learning curve with a few bits of technology to get you poised for total success in the business of podcasting, I'm hoping that this course is a simple and easy to use tool that lessons the learning curve for you as much as possible. What is So Smart About Podcasting? Podcasting is a smart way to build a powerful platform because unlike writing, someone is hearing your voice, This makes your content more personal. You're listeners feel like they hang out with you on a regular basis. Over time they feel like really know you, even if they've never met you in real life. When they feel like they know you, they begin to not only like you but they trust you. and that my friend is the formula you need to create a money-making business. A group of people wha like you, feel like they know you and most importantly trust you. That trust is built episode by episode as you offer them real solutions to real problems with your free content. Then when you create a paid product, your audience is excited to pay you for the hard work you put into something they know will help them, encourage them or even entertain them. More importantly, podcasting can help develop that trust relationship pretty darn fast. But before you ever start recording you need to do two important things. You need to figure out why you want to podcast and then you need own YOUR authority. 1. Figure Out Why You Want to Podcast When you think about podcasting, why is that you are interested in creating your own platform in this media space? Do you enjoy public speaking but don't get a lot of opportunities to hone your skills? Do you want to start your speaking career? Do you hate writing blog posts? Do you enjoy listening to podcasts? Do you want to connect with your existing audience in a new way? Would you like to find a new audience? Do you want to inform people about topics you feel passionate about? Are you an entertainer at heart and want to make people laugh or escape? Do you long to help educate people on a particular topic? Think about your own "why" and decide how podcasting is going to help you? For me, my Thrifty Little Mom podcast was created to reach a new audience and help encourage and entertain moms out there. My other podcast, Just Keep Blogging is meant as a show to encourage bloggers to keep going and not give on their blogging dreams. Just like anything in life, if you know the reason behind why you are do something it can help you keep going when the going gets tough, |'d also like you to think about your long-term goals associated with blogging. What are you hoping to do with it in the long run? 2. Decide to Own Your Authority ‘One of the biggest obstacles to you starting your show and keeping it going without giving up is for you own your authority. You have to believe that you have something important to say. Believe that you are entertaining or even funny if that's the niche you are going for. If you are going to make it- believe you are the ONE person in the world who should ABSOLUTELY be talking about your topic and just go for it. You need confidence that you should be doing this and you must believe that you can make it successful. These are VITAL first two steps in creating a podcast. They are the two variables that are going to get you the furthest in your journey, next to actually doing the work. >>>Lesson Acti’ ty <<< Before you move on te Step 1, print out the "Why" worksheet and complete the questions.
