Introduction

Thanks for Being here.

Hello, We are Fourine Enterprise, garment

manufacturing and printing company based in
Delhi, founded in 2020. Over the years, we've
had the privilege of working with hundreds of
brands, many of whom continue to partner
with us for their ongoing needs.

In this guide, we won't be discussing the

basics of starting a clothing brand, as there are
plenty of resources available online for that.

Instead, we'll dive straight into specific,

actionable topics that can make a significant
difference in your t-shirt business, based on
our experience and insights from our clients.
What We’ll Cover:

1.Picking the Right Color: The Color

Strategy
How to select colors that resonate with
your target audience and enhance your
brand identity.

2. Choosing the Right Graphic/Design

for Your T-shirt

Tips for selecting impactful designs that

stand out and attract customers.

3. Selecting a Manufacturer

Key considerations for choosing the right

manufacturer when you're starting out,
ensuring quality and reliability.
4. BONUSES
These insights are grounded in real-world experience
and have proven effective for us and our clients. Let's get
started!
Picking the Right Color:
The Color Strategy

Choosing the right colors for your t-shirts is

crucial for attracting your target audience and
establishing a strong brand identity. Here are
key considerations for an effective color
strategy:
1. Understand Color Psychology
Colors evoke emotions: Different colors can
evoke specific emotions and associations. For
instance, red can symbolize passion and
energy, while blue often conveys trust and
calmness.

Brand alignment: Ensure the colors you

choose align with the message and values of
your brand. For example, eco-friendly brands
might use greens and earthy tones.

2. Know Your Audience

Demographics: Consider the age, gender, and
preferences of your target audience. Bright,
vibrant colors might appeal to younger
audiences, while more subdued tones might
be preferred by an older demographic.

Cultural significance: Be aware of cultural

meanings associated with colors, as these can
vary significantly across different regions.

3. Analyze Market Trends

Current trends: Stay updated on the latest
color trends in the fashion industry. This can
help your designs stay relevant and
appealing.

Seasonal colors: Different colors are popular

in different seasons. For instance, pastels
might be more popular in spring, while
darker shades are favored in autumn and
winter.

4. Create a Cohesive Palette

Brand consistency: Develop a color palette
that reflects your brand consistently across
all your products. This helps in building brand
recognition and loyalty.
Complementary colors: Use colors that
complement each other well. This ensures
your t-shirts are visually appealing and
harmonious.

5. Testing and Feedback

Prototype testing: Create samples in
different colors and gather feedback from
potential customers or focus groups.

Analyze sales data: Once your t-shirts are on

the market, analyze which colors perform
best and adjust your strategy accordingly.

CONCLUSION

To conclude, I highly recommend conducting

thorough market research to understand
which colors your competitors are using and
which ones are in demand.

At Fourine Enterprise, we have streamlined

our offerings to 8-9 carefully selected colors
based on extensive market research and
customer demand. Our unique and highly
sought-after colors include:
1. Black BEST SELLER

2. Lavender
3. Beige
4. Baby Pink
5. Teal
6. Brown
7. Grey
8. Royal Blue/ Orange Etc.

These colors are our bestsellers, consistently

requested by our clients. Outside of these, we
rarely receive substantial requests for other
colors, although we can provide them upon
special order. Trust in the power of targeted
market research to guide your color choices
and meet market demands effectively.
Choosing the Right
Graphic/Design for Your T-shirt

In the realm of t-shirt design, many fall into

the trap of opting for generic graphics from
easily accessible platforms like Canva, lacking
in originality and distinctiveness. Another
pitfall is overwhelming their website with a
multitude of designs, often without a clear
marketing strategy for each.
The key to success lies in sourcing unique and
compelling designs. Platforms such as Etsy
provide a wealth of affordable options starting
at just ₹ 300. crafted by individual artists who
can imbue your brand with a distinctive flair.

Too often, businesses falter due to an

abundance of designs without a clear focus on
what resonates with their audience and drives
sales. Instead, consider a curated approach:
begin with a thoughtfully selected collection
of 4-5 standout designs. This not only
simplifies decision-making for your customers
but also elevates the allure and exclusivity of
your t-shirt offerings.
Selecting a Manufacturer

When starting out, it's crucial to choose a

manufacturer with a low Minimum Order
Quantity (MOQ). Avoid those requiring 50-60
pieces per color, as this quickly adds up to a
substantial investment—especially risky for
newcomers. Look for options with lower
MOQs to manage costs effectively.
Beware of falling into the trap of cheap
prices. A genuine 100% cotton, 200 GSM
oversized t-shirt costs around 190-195 Rs
From a manufacture. Many suppliers in
places like Ludhiana advertise similar
products for 170-180 Rs, often by
compromising on GSM or blending polyester
with cotton.

Consider this example: Recently, a client

from Lucknow purchased 240 GSM loop knit
fabric from Ludhiana at 180 Rs per unit. When
he brought it to us for printing, expecting a
deal, he discovered it weighed closer to 200-
210 gms and wasn't 100% cotton as promised
—a common occurrence in the market.

To avoid such pitfalls, always request samples

or visit the manufacturer if possible,
especially when dealing with new suppliers.
Ensuring quality and transparency upfront
can save significant headaches and costs
down the line.

Not all manufacturers in Ludhiana are

unreliable; there are reputable ones as well.
Similar scams can also occur in markets like
Delhi's Gandhi Nagar.

CONCLUSION
While there are reputable manufacturers
anywhere, it's essential to remain vigilant
and conduct thorough research to avoid
scams. Always opt for manufacturers with
low MOQs when starting out, and be
cautious of prices that seem too good to be
true. Request samples or visit suppliers to
ensure the quality of the materials. This
diligence will help you establish a reliable
supply chain and avoid costly mistakes as
you grow your t-shirt business.

How to Start Selling

In streetwear, the main game is all about your

designs—how unique you can make them.

Unique design that standout & the perfection

you are marketing it.

Let me be honest, if you're just picking basic

Canva designs or common prints, you're going
to face a tough time.

Many of our customers choose those same

basic prints, and eventually, everyone ends up
with the same designs.
Your designs need to stand out, and your selling
strategy should be strong.
If you're just starting out, simply running ads
won’t bring you results. You’ll only waste your
money. In the beginning, focus on building
brand awareness so people start recognizing
your brand.

The best way to do this is by creating a proper

Instagram page. Share content like storytelling
posts instead of only uploading t-shirt mockups
that fill your feed with repetitive content.

Post different types of videos/vlogs. Even stylish

shoots can help, but don’t rely on those
common Placeit mockups—they’ve become too
predictable.

You can even shoot with your regular camera

and share your brand’s journey in creative ways
while staying updated with current trends.
Another great idea is to give t-shirts to your
friends or their friends as giveaways and create
collab posts or videos.

If you have a marketing budget, a great

strategy is to collaborate with Instagram
influencers who align with your target
audience. Look for influencers who share similar
values with your brand or are already popular
within the streetwear or fashion niche.
Partnering with them can help your products
reach a larger, engaged audience.

Encourage these influencers to create unboxing

and review videos showcasing your t-shirts or
other products. These types of videos build trust
with their followers and give your brand a more
authentic feel. When viewers see someone they
follow endorsing your brand, they are more
likely to trust it and make a purchase.
Once you have this content, use it as the
foundation for your marketing campaigns. You
can run these videos as ads on Instagram and
other social media platforms. Pair them with
compelling captions and call-to-actions to drive
traffic to your page or website.

This strategy will not only boost brand

awareness but also give you faster results, as
influencer marketing often leads to a quicker
return on investment compared to starting
from scratch. Additionally, you'll have high-
quality, relatable content to use across your
marketing channels, making your campaigns
even more effective.
Special Bonus

Mockups
While photoshoots with models are ideal, you can
start by using realistic mockups from Placeit.net. This
platform offers a variety of templates to showcase
your t-shirt designs effectively.

Designs
For unique designs, consider purchasing from sellers
on platforms like Etsy.com and Fiverr.com. Search for
"urban streetwear t-shirt design" to find a wide range
of creative options.

Background Editing
Photoroom.com is an excellent tool for editing your
mockups. It allows you to easily remove backgrounds
and add realistic ones, enhancing the overall
presentation of your products.
How to Find a Manufacturer?
Google Search: Use keywords like “T-shirt
manufacturer near me” or “T-shirt manufacturer in
{Your State}.” This will give you a list of local
manufacturers.

IndiaMart: Post your requirements on IndiaMart, and

you’ll receive calls from various manufacturers without
much effort. This platform is especially useful for
connecting with multiple suppliers quickly.
Things Must Know
You shouldn’t ignore.

You might notice terms like 'BIO WASHED,' 'SILICON

WASH,' and 'GOLD FINISH' when inquiring with
manufacturers. These terms refer to fabric treatments
that enhance durability, comfort, and appearance.
Understanding these is essential, so let me explain
them for you.

Bio Wash:
Bio wash uses natural enzymes to soften and
smooth fabric.
It removes loose fibers and reduces pilling.
This process is eco-friendly and enhances fabric
durability.

Silicon Wash:
Silicon wash uses silicone to give fabric a silky feel
and smooth texture.
It reduces wrinkles and adds a slight stretch to the
fabric.
This treatment improves fabric durability and gives
a premium finish.
Gold Finish:
1. Gold finish is a fabric treatment that gives a
shiny, luxurious appearance.
2. It involves applying a thin layer of gold-like
coating to the fabric.
3. This finish adds elegance and a premium look to
garments and textiles.

Few Doubts to Revised:

Should I go with cotton
material or polyester?

Problem: Cotton is expensive, making it

difficult to sell at a high price point.

100% polyester t-shirts are generally used for

sportswear due to their moisture-wicking
properties.

However, polycotton blends (polyester + cotton,

also known as PC) aren't the best option for a
quality brand, as they can develop burrs easily,
which might negatively impact your brand’s
reputation.

If you're aiming to build a sustainable brand and

want to encourage repeat purchases, pure
cotton is the better choice.

It's softer, more comfortable, and more

breathable than polyester, making it a superior
fabric for everyday wear.
What price should I sell
plain/printed t-shirts?

Problem: A cotton t-shirt from a

manufacturer costs me around ₹190 for a
plain design. How can I sell it at a competitive
price?

This is a common concern, especially when you

see cotton t-shirts on platforms like Amazon and
Meesho selling for ₹200-₹250. Competing with
these prices can seem challenging, but here are
two key points to consider:
Quality Misrepresentation: Many of the t-shirts
sold at those low prices aren't actually pure
cotton. They’re often made from polycotton
blends and are of lower quality, usually under 180
GSM. To verify this, you can order samples and
check the fabric yourself.

High-Volume Manufacturers: Some sellers do

offer 100% cotton t-shirts at ₹350-₹400, but
these are typically large manufacturers with high
production capacities, allowing them to achieve
lower costs. Competing with them on price alone
is difficult.

Instead of trying to match these prices, focus on

highlighting the quality and authenticity of your
100% cotton t-shirts.

Emphasize the comfort, durability, and

sustainability of your product, and consider
pricing them in a range that reflects their
superior quality. This way, you attract customers
who value these qualities and are willing to pay a
fair price.
Deciding the Selling Price
You purchased a 200 GSM pure cotton t-shirt
from a manufacturer. How much can you sell it
for?

If you do a quick Google search for "200 GSM

plain oversized t-shirt" (excluding Amazon and
Meesho), you’ll notice that reputable brands are
selling these t-shirts for around ₹400-₹500 at the
lowest. Some even go as high as ₹800-₹900,
particularly for brands known for their
sustainability and quality.

This indicates that pricing your t-shirts in this

range is not only feasible but also aligns with
market expectations.

Plain t-shirts at these rates are already valued by

customers, and when you add prints, the selling
price can easily double. Yes, it’s true—brands are
selling printed t-shirts for twice the price of plain
ones.
So, it’s not a big deal to set a competitive price
for your quality product.

You can comfortably price your plain 200 GSM

cotton t-shirts in the ₹400-₹900 range, and even
more for printed versions, depending on your
brand positioning and target market.
Printing Options—What
Types Are Available and
What Do They Cost?

There are several printing methods available,

including sublimation, DTF, screen printing, and
puff printing. Let’s focus on the two most
commonly used methods: Screen Printing and
DTF (Direct to Film) Printing.

DTF Printing
Process: DTF stands for Direct to Film printing. In
this method, a DTF machine prints designs onto a
special film or sheet. The design is then
transferred to the t-shirt using a heat press
machine.

Advantages: DTF is ideal for small orders because

it doesn’t require a high minimum order quantity
(MOQ). It’s a quick and efficient method, making it
popular for smaller brands or custom orders.

Cost: Generally, DTF printing is cost-effective for

low-volume orders. The exact cost will vary
depending on the complexity of the design and
the size of the print area.

Screen Printing
Process: Screen printing involves creating a
stencil (or screen) for each color in the design.
Inks are manually mixed and applied to the t-shirt
through these screens, one color at a time.

Advantages: Screen printing is known for its

durability and vibrant color output. It also allows
for special effects like HD print, puff (3D) prints,
and other textures.
Cost: This method has a higher MOQ requirement,
typically around 50 pieces per design, because
of the labor-intensive setup process. It can be
more expensive for small orders but becomes
cost-effective at higher volumes.

Which One is Better?

DTF Printing: Best for small batches, quick
turnarounds, and flexibility. It’s an excellent
choice for low MOQ orders or when you need to
produce multiple designs quickly.

Screen Printing: Offers superior durability and a

premium finish. It’s preferred for larger orders
where the setup cost can be spread across
many units, and it’s often used for high-end
designs and specialty prints like puff or 3D
effects.

Tip: Big brands often opt for screen and puff

printing due to their longevity and high-quality
finish, which allows them to sell at higher
margins.
Both methods have their strengths, so the choice
depends on your specific needs—whether you
prioritize flexibility and speed (DTF) or durability
and premium quality (Screen Printing).
