Objective:
To create a 3D model of a mechanical part using SolidWorks, generate its detailed
drawing, and document all relevant dimensions and views.

Introduction:
This lab report describes the steps and commands involved in designing a
mechanical part in SolidWorks. The part includes multiple features such as
extrusions, holes, fillets, and chamfers. A detailed drawing was generated to
represent the part in multiple views (isometric, front, top, and side views) with
precise dimensions.

Procedure:
Step 1: Sketching the Base Profile
1. Command: Sketch
o Plane: Top Plane

o Tools: Line, Circle, and Smart Dimension

o Dimensions: 90 mm x 50 mm rectangle with a 16 mm circle.

2. Command: Trim Entities
o Used to refine overlapping lines and maintain the required profile.

3. Command: Smart Dimension

o Applied to fully define the sketch.

Step 2: Extruding the Base

1. Command: Extruded Boss/Base
o Depth: 30 mm

Step 3: Adding the Mounting Holes

1. Command: Hole Wizard
o Hole Type: Countersunk

o Diameter: 10 mm

o Placement: Defined on the top face, positioned using dimensions.

2. Command: Linear Pattern

o Pattern type: Feature Pattern

o Features: Mounting holes

o Direction: Horizontal and vertical spacing of holes.

Step 4: Creating the Side Extensions

1. Command: Extruded Boss/Base
o Profile: Side flanges (sketched using arcs and lines).

o Depth: 25 mm.

2. Command: Fillet
o Radius: 5 mm (applied to edges of the side extensions).

Step 5: Creating the Cut Features

1. Command: Extruded Cut
o Profile: Circular cutouts (16 mm diameter).

o Placement: Centered on the top face of the part.

Step 6: Adding Chamfers

1. Command: Chamfer
o Angle: 45 degrees
o Distance: 5 mm

o Applied to selected edges for smooth transitions.

Step 7: Adding Final Details

1. Command: Fillet
o Radius: 2 mm

o Applied to all sharp edges for refinement.

2. Command: Text and Annotation

o Added part name, title block, and dimensions.

Step 8: Generating the Drawing

1. Command: Make Drawing from Part
o Template: A3 (ISO standard)

o Views: Isometric, Front, Top, and Side.

o Dimensions: Added using Smart Dimension and Model Items.

2. Command: Table
o Included title block, material details, and designer information.
Results:
The mechanical part was successfully modeled in SolidWorks with all required
features and dimensions. The drawing sheet includes:
1. Isometric, front, top, and side views.
2. Precise dimensions for manufacturing.
3. Title block with designer and part details.

Conclusion:
This exercise demonstrated the application of SolidWorks commands in designing a
mechanical part. The part meets the required specifications and is ready for further
analysis or manufacturing.
