CHAPTER 1

COLLEGE OF COMPUTER STUDIES

Introduction

I. Problem and Setting

A website is a group of interconnected, publicly accessible Web pages with a

common domain name. A website can be developed and maintained to serve a variety of
objectives by an individual, group, company, or institution. All additional pages can be
reached from the homepage, which acts as a sort of "hub." Each page is a separate HTML
document that is joined together by hyperlinks (or simply "link") that can be arranged in
a navigation bar for user convenience. Websites are hosted on servers and must be
accessed using a web browser like Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer (either on a
computer or mobile device). A British physicist working at CERN named Tim Berners-
Lee developed the first website in 1990. Everyone could access and utilize the World
Wide Web for free, according to a 1993 CERN announcement.

Our lifestyle has been completely upended by the Website. This has completely
changed how we communicate, to the point where it is now our go-to method. We use the
Web for virtually everything. Purchasing a television, placing a pizza order, spending
time with a friend, and sending a picture over instant messaging are some examples. Prior
to the website, if you wanted to stay current on the news, you had to visit the newsstand
as soon as it opened in the morning and purchase a local edition covering the events of
the previous day. But today, it only takes a few clicks to read your local newspaper and
any other up-to-the-minute news source from anywhere in the world.

Nearly everyone in today's electronic world has access to the World Wide Web in
some way for their consumer, educational, entertainment, and research purposes. Due to

the Internet's growing popularity, companies of all sizes now have a website that serves
as their online platform.
The following are some benefits of a website.
 create a website for a business
 peoples are now give some time browsing favorites musics
 students/teachers are easily access educational porposes

COLLEGE OF COMPUTER STUDIES

This study aims to develop a Library Management System for COMEHI in order
to improve the efficiency and accuracy of library resources, and to reduce manual labor
and administrative task.
It specifically aims to:
• To provide an online system for reserving and renewing library resources
• To provide an easy access to the students, and librarian to the system.
• To develop a online system for the school
• To automate the process for managing accounts of student and librarian.

II. Significance and Limitation of Design
The significance of a library management system to students, teachers, and librarians can
be summarized as follows:

• Students, a library management system provides easy access to library resources and
information, which can help them with their studies and research. This can save them
time and effort, and allow them to access the resources they need more quickly and
easily.
• Librarians, a library management system can help them to manage the library's
resources more efficiently.
• Teachers, a library management system can be a valuable tool for lesson planning
and research.

A Library Management System has certain limitation. Some of the limitation of library
management system include:
• Online Library Management System for Comehi is only for manage record of student
info, book borrowed, time and date when students borrowed the books.

I. The content of the Website

Figure 1: Log in Page

Figure 1 serves as Log in Page where student, teachers and administrator as their
starting point in accessing the System.

Figure 2 : Admin Dashboard

In Figure 2 is the Admin Dashboard where the administrator would manage the
system. Administrator can add book, view book record, book request approve, add
student, view student report, issue book, issue report and log out.

Figure 3: Book Record

In this page display all the books imported including it’s books name, price of the
book, quantity of the books, if it’s available and how many students rents/borrow the
book.

according to its needed like, choose books, name, and days. Days is when would it be last
on their hand. In

example. If I borrow a book, I select 7 days as my limit after that , I need to return the
book to the library. Once I submitted, it is automatically saved to the database.

Figure 9: Student Report/Issue Book Record

In Figure 9 is student report, means that all the data inserted by the admin will be
save here. It includes the date when students/teachers borrow a book and also when they
return the book. This will serve as database of admin who manage and view all the data
of the users.

Figure 10: Student Account

Shown in Figure 10 the account of the user. It has only have request book, my
account, book report and log out. In my account page, user will view the account created
by the admin. Since the user already has the account, he/she may now able to request a
book from the admin.

IV. Technical Requirements
CC
COLLEGE OF COMPUTER STUDIES

a. Hardware Requirements
i. A Library management System requires the following basic hardware
• Computer or server with sufficient storage to hold system’s resources.
• Processor to ensure that the system runs smoothly and efficiently.
ii. The specific hardware used in this system is laptop-6V68CNNM with 4.00GB.
Its processor is Intel(R) Pentium(R) Silver N5000 CPU @ 1.10GHz 1.10 GHz.

b. Software Requirements
A Library Management System requires the following Software:
• Operating System such as Linus or Windows. Windows are common use in
developing a systems
• A database management system like MySQL Server. This is to store
important data of the system.
• In developing a system need programming language, PHP, HTML, CSS as
backend and frontend. And framework such Xampp.

c. Services Needed
i. Internet Connection
Internet connectivity is needed to access online databases and digital libraries. In
addition internet connection is crucial to access any online activity that world used
today.

ii. Web Hosting

For a web-based library management system, it will need a web hosting service to
host the system on the internet. Although there is some good services for a library, there
is suggested web-hosting that it might good to use in Library Management System. A

Shared hosting: A shared hosting service provides a simple and cost-effective option for
hosting a library management system, but it may not be suitable for large libraries or
libraries with high traffic.

iii. Domain Name Registration

A domain name is a unique name that identifies a website on the internet. In order
to make the library management system accessible on the internet, a domain name will
need to be registered and associated with the web hosting service.

CHAPTER III:
Summary, Recommendation and Conclusion

Summary

A library management system requires hardware, such as a computer or server,

barcode scanners, and printers, and software, such as a database management system,
web server, programming language, and library management software. The system may
also require internet connectivity, web hosting, and domain name registration.

Recommendation

When choosing hardware and software for a library management system, it is

important to ensure that they meet the performance, scalability, and security needs of the
library. It is also important to choose web hosting and domain registration service
providers that provide reliable and secure services.

Conclusion

A library management system is a complex system that requires careful

consideration of hardware, software, and services. By ensuring that the hardware,
software, and services meet the needs of the library, libraries can ensure that their
management systems are effective and secure, and that they can provide the best possible
service to their patrons.
