23 Prove that the lengths of tangents drawn from an external point to a 2


circle are equal.
24 In  ABC, right-angled at B, AB = 24 cm, BC = 7 cm. Determine : 2

From the given figure, find tan P – cot R.

25 In a circle of radius 21 cm, an arc subtends an angle of 60° at the 2


centre. Find:
(i) the length of the arc
(ii) area of the sector formed by the arc

26 Prove that √3 is irrational number. 3
27 Find the zeroes of the quadratic polynomial p(x) = x2 – 3 and verify 3
the relationship between the zeroes and the coefficients.
OR
Find a quadratic polynomial, the sum and product of whose zeroes
are √2 & -3/2 respectively. Also find its zeroes.

28 Meena went to a bank to withdraw ₹ 2000. She asked the cashier 3


to give her ₹ 50 and ₹ 100 notes only. Meena got 25 notes in all.
Find how many notes of ₹ 50 and ₹ 100 she received.

31 A box contains 90 discs which are numbered from 1 to 90. If one 3
disc is drawn at random from the box, find the probability that it
bears
(i) a two-digit number
(ii) a perfect square number
(iii) a number divisible by 5.

32 Draw the graphs of the equations x – y + 1 = 0 and 3x + 2y –12 = 0. 5
Determine the coordinates of the vertices of the triangle formed by
these lines on the x-axis, and shade the triangular region.
33 State and prove Basic Proportionality Theorem. 5

Sides AB and BC and median AD of a triangle ABC are
respectively proportional to sides PQ and QR and median PM of 
PQR (see fig). Show that  ABC ~  PQR

34 A solid toy is in the form of a hemisphere surmounted by a right 5


circular cone. The height of the cone is 2 cm and the diameter of
the base is 4 cm. Determine the volume of the toy. If a right circular
cylinder circumscribes the toy, find the difference of the volumes of
the cylinder and the toy. (Take  = 3.14)

The decorative block shown in the figure is made of two solids — a
cube and a hemisphere. The base of the block is a cube with edge
5 cm, and the hemisphere fixed on
the top has a diameter of 4.2 cm.
Find the total surface area of the
block. (Take  = 22/7 )

35 A survey regarding the heights (in cm) of 50 girls of class Xth of a 5


school was conducted and the following data was obtained.

(i) Find the mean and median of the data.


(ii) Find the mode of the given data.
SECTION: E (Case Based Questions)
36 Ms. Sheela visited a store near her house and found that the glass 4
jars are arranged one above the other in a specific pattern. On the
top layer there are 3 jars. In the next layer there are 6 jars. In the
3rd layer from the top there are 9 jars and so on till the 8th layer.
On the basis of the above situation answer the following questions.
(i) Write an A.P whose terms represent the number of jars in
different layers starting from top . Also, find the common difference.
(ii) Is it possible to arrange 34 jars in a layer if this pattern is
continued? Justify your answer.
(iii) If there are ‘n’ number of rows in a layer then find the
expression for finding the total number of jars in terms of n. Hence
find 𝑆8 .

OR
(iii) The shopkeeper added 3 jars in each layer. How many jars are
there in the 5th layer from the top.
37 In order to conduct Sports Day activities in your School, lines have 4
been drawn with chalk powder at a distance of 1 m each, in a
rectangular shaped ground ABCD, 100 flower pots have been

placed at a distance of 1 m from each other along AD, as shown in
given figure below. Niharika runs 1/4 th the distance AD on the 2nd
line and posts a green flag. Preet runs 1/5th distance AD on the
eighth line and posts a red flag.

(i) Find the position of green flag.


(ii) Find the position of red flag
(iii) What is the distance between both the flags?
OR
(iii) If Rashmi has to post a blue flag exactly halfway between
the line segment joining the two flags, where should she post
her flag?
38 Anita purchased a new building for her business. Being in the prime 4
location, she decided to make some more money by putting up an
advertisement sign for a rental ad income on the roof of the
building. 91 From a point P on the ground level, the angle of
elevation of the roof of the building is 30° and the angle of elevation
of the top of the sign board is 45°. The point P is at a distance of 24

m from the base of the building.

On the basis of the above information, answer the following


questions:
(i) Find the height of the sign board from the ground.
(ii) Find the distance of the point P from the top of the sign board.
(iii) Find the height of the building (without the sign board).

(iii) Find the height of sign board only.
