Adhoc Unit 1
Adhoc Unit 1
An Ad Hoc network is a type of wireless network that operates without relying on any fixed infrastructure such
as routers, access points, or centralized servers. In an Ad Hoc network, each device (node) is capable of both
sending and receiving data, as well as rou ng data for other nodes. This allows the network to be dynamic and
self-organizing, making it suitable for environments where infrastructure is unavailable or imprac cal.
OR
An Ad Hoc network is a decentralized wireless network that operates without a fixed infrastructure. In this type
of network, nodes communicate directly with each other and relay data in a coopera ve manner, allowing for
dynamic and self-organizing communica on.
2. Disaster Recovery:
Deployed in areas affected by natural disasters where tradi onal infrastructure is damaged or
unavailable.
Used for vehicle-to-vehicle communica on to improve traffic management and road safety.
4. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs):
Applied in environmental monitoring, agriculture, and industrial surveillance to collect data from
remote sensors.
Used for peer-to-peer communica on between smartphones and other devices in areas without
mobile networks.
6. Smart Environments:
Used in smart homes and smart ci es for inter-device communica on in Internet of Things (IoT)
setups.
