1. What are landmarks?
Ans. Landmarks are objects or features that help us to easily
recognize or find a place.
2. What is a sketch?
Ans. A sketch is a rough drawing of the location of a place or
an object from observation and memory.
3. What features of the Earth are represented on a globe?
Ans. Continents, countries, seas, ocean, mountains are some
of the features represented on the Globe.
4. What is a globe?
Ans. A Globe is a model of the Earth. It gives us an idea of
how planet Earth looks.
5. What do symbols on a map indicate?
Ans. Symbols on a map are used to show landmarks and
different features like Roads, buildings, bridges, trees,
railway lines etc.
6. What is a title?
Ans. A title tells us about the map and the type of
information we get from it.
7. What is a scale?
Ans. Scale is a measurement marked on a map which
represents the actual distance on the earth. Example if the
distance between the house and the school is 5km. this is
shown on a map by using 1cm. then the scale on the map is
1cm=5km.
8. How is a scale very important in any map?
Ans: A scale is very important in any map as it can be used
to calculate the distance between any two places on a map.

Ans. Some of the advantages of the map are:

map.
A key or legend helps us to understand the representation of
symbols and colours used in a map.
5. Why do we use a globe?
Ans: We use a globe to study Earth as a whole because a
globe is a model of the Earth and it represents the Earth
surface more accurately than a flat map. It shows details like
continents, countries, oceans, seas etc,.

Ans: Symbols and colours represent different features of the
Earth on a map like roads, rivers, forest, oceans, bridges etc.
which helps us to easily recognize a place.
