Fertilizer Doze Calculation and Their Numerical

Question 1:- A farmer has a 2-hectare field and plans to grow wheat. The recommended
nutrient dose for wheat is:
 Nitrogen (N): 120 kg/ha
 Phosphorus (P2O5): 60 kg/ha
 Potassium (K2O): 40 kg/ha

The farmer plans to use the following fertilizers:

 FYM (Farmyard Manure): Contains 0.5% N, 0.2% P2O5, and 0.5% K2O
 Urea: Contains 46% N
 DAP (Di-Ammonium Phosphate): Contains 18% N and 46% P2O5
 MOP (Muriate of Potash): Contains 60% K2O

If the farmer applies 10 tons of FYM per hectare, calculate the quantities of Urea, DAP, and
MOP required to meet the nutrient needs for the entire field.

Solution:-
Question 2:- A farmer has a total land area of 4 hectares and grows two crops: wheat on 2
hectares and rice on 2 hectares. The nutrient requirements are:

 Wheat: 120 kg N, 60 kg P₂O₅, and 40 kg K₂O per hectare.

 Rice: 100 kg N, 50 kg P₂O₅, and 30 kg K₂O per hectare.

The farmer uses:

 FYM (0.5% N, 0.2% P₂O₅, 0.5% K₂O): 5 tons/ha for both crops.

 Urea (46% N), DAP (18% N, 46% P₂O₅), and MOP (60% K₂O) to meet the remaining
needs.

Calculate the quantities of Urea, DAP, and MOP required for the entire farm.

Question3:- A farmer has 3 hectares of land where maize is grown. The nutrient requirement is:

 N: 150 kg/ha

 P₂O₅: 80 kg/ha

 K₂O: 50 kg/ha

The farmer plans to use:

 Urea (₹7/kg), DAP (₹25/kg), and MOP (₹18/kg).

The farmer applies 8 tons of FYM/ha.

Calculate the total cost of fertilizers required after accounting for the nutrients supplied by
FYM.

Question 4:- A farmer needs to supply 200 kg of N, 100 kg of P₂O₅, and 50 kg of K₂O for a 2-
hectare wheat field. The farmer has three fertilizer combinations available.

 Combination A: 20% N, 20% P₂O₅, 0% K₂O

 Combination B: 15% N, 10% P₂O₅, 15% K₂O

 Combination C: 10% N, 5% P₂O₅, 20% K₂O

How much of each combination should the farmer use to meet the nutrient requirements at
the lowest total quantity of fertilizer?

Question 5:- A farmer divides a 5-hectare field into three sections:

 Section 1: 2 ha for wheat (120 kg N, 60 kg P₂O₅, 40 kg K₂O/ha)

 Section 2: 1.5 ha for maize (150 kg N, 80 kg P₂O₅, 50 kg K₂O/ha)

 Section 3: 1.5 ha for rice (100 kg N, 50 kg P₂O₅, 30 kg K₂O/ha)

The farmer applies 10 tons of FYM per hectare uniformly across all sections. Calculate the
fertilizer requirements (Urea, DAP, MOP) for each section separately.

Question 6:- A soil test shows the following existing nutrient levels in a field:

 Nitrogen: 50 kg/ha

 Phosphorus: 30 kg/ha

 Potassium: 20 kg/ha

The recommended dose for the crop is:

 N: 120 kg/ha

 P₂O₅: 80 kg/ha

 K₂O: 60 kg/ha
The farmer applies FYM at 5 tons/ha (0.5% N, 0.2% P₂O₅, 0.5% K₂O) and uses Urea, DAP, and
MOP to meet the balance. Calculate the fertilizer requirements to bring the soil fertility up to
the recommended level.
