A. KIẾN THỨC
I. SO SÁNH HƠN
Cấu trúc so sánh hơn trong tiếng Anh được chia làm hai loại:
- So sánh hơn với tính từ, trạng từ ngắn:
S + V + Short adj / adv + er + than + O/ Clause/ N/ Pronoun
VD: The elephant is heavier than the rhino.
- So sánh hơn với tính từ, trạng từ dài:
S + V + more + Long adj / adv + than + O/ Clause/ N/ Pronoun
VD: Jane is more intelligent than Tim.
Lưu ý: Tính từ và trạng từ ngắn thường là những từ có 1 âm tiết, trong khi tính từ, trạng từ dài là những từ có 2 âm tiết trở lên. Tuy nhiên, trên thực tế vẫn có những trường hợp mà tính từ có 2 âm tiết khi có đuôi kết thúc là “-y, -le, -et, -ow, -er” vẫn được xem là tính từ ngắn.
II. SO SÁNH NHẤT
Cấu trúc so sánh nhất trong tiếng Anh cũng được chia thành hai loại: - So sánh nhất với tính từ, trạng từ ngắn: S + V + the + adj + EST …. VD: He is the tallest in his class. - So sánh nhất với tính từ, trạng từ dài: S + V + the MOST + adj …. VD: She is the most beautiful in the company.
