1. a) Given sets A={a , b , c }, B={1, 2 , 3 }, C={ x , y , z , w } and


D={4 ,5 , 6 }. The functions f ={ ( a , 2 ) , ( b , 1 ) , ( c , 3 ) }, g={( 1 , y ) , ( 2 , x ) , ( 3 , w ) } and

h={( x , 4 ) , ( y , 6 ) , ( z , 4 ) , ( w ,5 ) }.

(i) Draw the arrow diagram to represent the functions f, g,


and h. (ii) Identify with reasons which of the
functions is onto or one – to – one
(iii) Find hogof.

b) Given f(x)¿ 2 x+5 and g(x) =3 x 2+10 , find fog(x) and gof(x)

2. a) Prove that a function f: R→R defined by f ( x )=4 x−5 is a


bijective function.

Find (i) domain of f (ii) co-domin of f (iii) range of f.
b) Let A be the set of students in a school. Determine which
of the following assignments defines a function on A.
(i) to each student assign his age.
(ii) To each student assign his sex
(iii) To each student assign assign his teacher
c) State whether or not each diagram below defines a
function A = {1, 2, 3} and B = { x, y, z}
