The agenda of International cooperation for access to justice, remedies, and assistance for
survivors of sexual violence and trafficking is crucial in today's global landscape. Sexual
violence and human trafficking are pervasive issues that affect millions worldwide, undermining
human rights and dignity. Addressing these challenges is essential not only for the protection of
vulnerable populations but also for fostering sustainable development and social stability.
Survivors often face significant barriers in accessing justice, including legal, social, and
economic obstacles. Therefore, international cooperation is imperative to create effective
frameworks that ensure survivors receive the necessary support and remedies, fostering a culture
of accountability and prevention.
Historically, the international community has taken various actions to combat sexual violence
and trafficking. The United Nations Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in
Persons, especially women and children, serves as a foundational legal instrument guiding global
efforts. Additionally, Egypt has made significant strides in this area by ratifying key international
treaties and establishing national laws aimed at combating trafficking and protecting victims. The
National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Human Trafficking was formed
in 2007, leading initiatives to enhance legal frameworks and increase awareness. Recent efforts
include the National Strategy for Preventing and Combating Human Trafficking (2022-2026),
which emphasizes training officials and raising public awareness on these critical issues.
