Lesson: CAM setup


In this lesson, you will create a setup.

Learning Objectives:
 Create a setup.
Step 1: Create a setup
1. Continue with the file from the previous example and
navigate to the CAM workspace.

2. Select Setup > New Setup.

3. Hide the fixture in the browser by


selecting the light bulb icon.

4. Set the Operation Type to Milling, the


Model to just the Upright and the
Orientation to Select Z axis/plane & X
axis.

5. Z axis is correct but needs to be
flipped.

6. For the X axis select the edge near


the steering link mount.

7. Set the Stock Point to the upper left


hand corner and ensure the axis
orentation matches the image.

Note: On CNC machines Z needs to point


up at the tool on the machine. X will point to
the Right if you are standing in front of the
machine and Y back toward the machine.
This location is the fixed jaw on a vise setup.

8. Navigate to the Stock tab and view


options. Leave the default Mode
and offset values.

9. OK the stock setup and save the


file.
