II. Subject Matter:
a. Topic Finding nth term of a sequence
b. Value Focus Collaboration, Teamwork
c. Materials TV, photos, Laptop
d. References Math 10 SLM Quarter 1 Module 1, EASE Module 1 on
Searching for Patterns, Sequences and Series

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
2. Checking of Attendance
3. House Rules
 Listen attentively and follow instructions.
 Active participation in necessary in every activity.
 Raise your hand to speak.
 Give respect and appreciate the work of your classmates.
 Do not be afraid to try.

B. Lesson Proper
1. Activity Activity 1: FINDING OBJECTS
Students are grouped into 4 and each will be given a photo posted on the
board. Let each student consecutively find the hidden object in the picture with
a time limit of 1 minute.
Activity 2: What’s next?

2. Analysis
(Discussion) Activity 3: Here we go!!
With the given expressions, write the first four terms of each sequence by
substituting the variable. Assume it starts at 1.
1) an = 4n + 1 2) an = 2n - 1

3. Abstraction Emphasize this:

(Generalization) A sequence is a succession of numbers. Each number is called a term.
Subscript are used to designate the ordinal of a term. It is customary to use
a 1, a 2, a 3, …, a n to designate a sequence of n terms.

To avoid any misunderstanding about ordering, the nth term ¿ ¿) of a sequence is

designated by an algebraic formula. The subscript n is understood to start from 1,
then 2, then 3, and so on, unless otherwise stated.

Example A.

Example B.
4. Application In a ¼ piece of paper, write the first six terms of the sequence.

IV. ASSESSMENT

A. Write the first 4 terms of the sequence whose nth term is given by the formula
1. an = n - 1
2. an = n² + 1
B. Find the indicated term of the sequence whose nth term is given by the formula.
. 3. an = 3n + 4 a12
4. an= n(n -1) a11

V. ASSIGNMENT
In a ½ piece of paper find the first 5 terms of the sequence.
1. an =3n + 3
2. an = 2n - 5 Find a10
