Instructions for Key Reprogramming
Audi A3, 2009 – earlier
Note: You Must have all customer keys present along with any additional keys requested, before you begin the reprogramming procedure as there is a timer involved during the key coding. If the customer has a spare key not present at the time of coding, it will no longer be programmed to the vehicle.
1. Connect a Battery Charger to the vehicle.
2. Connect the LAN line to the VAS 5052. 3. Connect the DLC cable from the VAS 5052 to the vehicle. 4. Turn ON the ignition switch. 5. Select “Guided Fault Finding” 6. Select Audi on the VAS 5052 display screen. 7. Select the vehicle type. 8. Select the Model year. 9. Select the engine code. The engine code can be found on the spare tire cover on most Audi models. 10. Select “Page Forward” button. 11. The VAS 5052 will perform a module search for fault codes. If there are any communications or internal module fault codes, they Must be repaired before you can continue with this procedure. 12. Select “Page Forward” 13. Select “Done” 14. Select “Done” 15. Select the “Go To” button at the bottom of the screen. 16. From the pop up window, select “Function/Component.” 17. Select “Body.” 18. Select “Electrical Equipment.” 19. Select “On Board Diagnosis (OBD) Capable Systems.” 20. Select “Immobilizer.” 21. Select “Functions, Immobilizer IV.” 22. Highlight “Instrument Cluster, key adaptation.” 23. Select the “Page Forward” button. 24. Highlight “Instrument Cluster, key adaptation.” 25. Select “Page Forward.” 26. Select “Done.” 27. Select “Done.” 28. The reprogramming will begin. Follow the on screen instructions. You will be prompted to insert into the ignition switch each key that is to be programmed to the vehicle. This is a timed function. If you do not complete all keys before the timer “times out” you must start over from the beginning.
