Content Builder Exercises

1. Create new folder (Folder Name: Your Name) under Content Builder> October Batch folder
2. Make sure to move all your emails and content blocks to your respective folders only.

Reference emails and content blocks are available in October Batch > Vydehi folder

Pre-requisite

 Complete your data extension setup (if your test data extensions were not created earlier)
 Ensure to have the data fields- First_Name, Gender and Age along with Customer_ID and
Email_Address
 Ensure that atleast 2-3 records (with correct email address) are updated in the Data
Extension for both Genders

EXERCISE 1

 Upload few dynamic images of your choice in SFMC


 Create a new template using the option From Existing Template
 Choose any of the Basic Template
 Configure the image, text, button and other related contents
 Delete the remaining blocks in the template that are not required
 Save the template
 Template Name: YourName_Basic_Template

EXERCISE 2- GENERIC EMAIL

 Create a new email message


 Select the option Template > Saved and choose your template
 Update the Email Name as YourName_Test_Email_1
 Include the Generic Subject Line and Preheader
 Preview the email for your test data extension records
 Ensure all the contents within the email are displayed correctly and CTA button click redirects
to the correct URL

EXERCISE 3- PERSONALIZED EMAIL

 Create a new email message


 Select the option Template > Saved and choose your template
 Update the Email Name as YourName_Test_Email_2
 Include the First Name Personalization in the Subject Line (using %%First_Name %%)
 Include First Name and Age personalization in the body text
 Preview the email for your test data extension records
 Ensure all the content and personalized values within the email are displayed correctly for all
the records and CTA button click redirects to the correct URL

EXERCISE 4- PERSONALIZED AND DYNAMIC EMAIL

 Under the Email YourName_Test_Email_2 settings, Click on Duplicate

 Update the Email Name as YourName_Test_Email_3


 Click on Save and Edit
 Drag and place the dynamic content block
 Configure the rules for Gender=MALE, the content to be displayed and Dynamic content
 Preview the email for your test data extension records
 Ensure all the content, personalized and dynamic values within the email are displayed
correctly for all the records and CTA button click redirects to the correct URL

SEND THE TEST EMAILS

 Using The Preview and Test Option, enter your email address under Recipients
 Select SFMC Training as Send Classification
 Click on Send Test Button to send the test email

SEND EMAILS TO DATA EXTENSION RECORDS


 For all 4 exercises, send the emails to the data extension records using Email Studio>
Content> Send option

 Select the target data extension


 Configure Send Immediately for the Send Timing
 Once email is delivered, open, click the links in the email
 Check the Subscriber status in All Subscribers
 Check the email tracking report in Email Studio > Tracking > Sends > My Tracking

EXERCISE 5- CREATION OF CONTENT BLOCKS

Create the below Content Blocks and configure them in your new test emails

 Button
 Code Snippet
 Dynamic Content
 Image Block
 Layout
 Social Follow
 Social Share
 Text

Create 2 or more test emails and check the reusability of these Content Blocks.

You can create more test emails of different combinations to check the functionality
