Introduction to Communicative English

1. Communicative English
Communicative English is all about using the English language for effective
communication in real-life situations. It goes beyond just learning grammar
and vocabulary, focusing on practical usage and the ability to express
oneself clearly.

2. Fundamentals of Communicative English

The fundamentals of Communicative English include understanding the
basic structure of English sentences, grammar rules, and vocabulary. It also
involves developing good pronunciation and intonation to convey meaning
accurately. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of active listening
and responding appropriately in conversations.

3. Process of Communication
The process of communication involves several elements. It starts with a
sender who encodes a message, selecting the right words and expressions
to convey their thoughts. The sender then chooses a suitable channel, such
as speaking face-to-face, writing an email, or using social media, to transmit
the message. The receiver, on the other end, decodes the message by
interpreting the words, tone, and body language. Finally, the receiver
provides feedback, ensuring that the intended meaning is understood.
4. Barriers to Effective Communicative English
Despite the importance of effective communication, there can be barriers
that hinder the process. These barriers may include language differences,
cultural misunderstandings, distractions, lack of confidence, or even
physical barriers like noisy environments. Overcoming these barriers
requires active listening, cultural sensitivity, clear expression, and the
willingness to ask for clarification when needed.

5. Different styles and levels in Communicative English

Communicative English can be adapted to different styles and levels of
formality. It includes formal communication, which is used in professional
settings or formal occasions, informal communication, which is more
relaxed and casual, professional communication, which is specific to certain
fields or industries, and casual communication, which is used among friends
and in informal settings. Each style requires different language choices and
levels of formality.

6. Interpersonal and Intrapersonal Communication Skills

Interpersonal communication refers to the exchange of information
between individuals. It involves active listening, empathy, and effective
speaking skills to build relationships and convey messages clearly.
Intrapersonal communication, on the other hand, refers to self-reflection
and self-expression. It allows individuals to understand their own thoughts,
feelings, and motivations, which can enhance their overall communication
skills.
