Borrowing the SolidWorks License to Enable Offline Use


Note: You must be connected to Ashesi Air or FortiClient VPN must be activated for this to work
1. Search for ‘SolidWorks License Manager Client’
2. After opening it, the license usage tab shows the number of licenses available for borrowing.
3. Select the ‘License Borrowing’ tab (it will take a while to open and may give a ‘Not
Responding’ message while the tab loads – this is normal).
4. Under available product licenses, select the SolidWorks package you need a license for (in
the case of this class, SolidWorks Premium is needed).
5. However SolidWorks Standard must be borrowed first before the Premium package is added.
So select ‘SolidWorks Standard’.
6. Under ‘Borrow Until’. Select a day that is a week away (for instance, if today is September 7,
select September 14 because the max borrow time is a week). You can try using a later date
in case the borrow period has been extended.
7. After selecting the date. Hit ‘Borrow’.
8. Wait for a while and repeat the process for the SolidWorks Premium.
9. Repeat Steps 2-7 to borrow other licenses such as SolidWorks Flow Simulation or
SolidWorks Visualize if you ever need those.
