PHOTOSYNTHESIS ACTIVITY:

I. Answer the following questions and statement precisely, accurately and concisely.

1. What is Photosynthesis? What is Photons? Why photosynthesis is an anabolic process?

- Photosynthesis is a process where plants convert light energy from the sun to chemical energy which is
glucose or sugar that acts as the plant’s food. Photons are the smallest particle of light that is made out
of electromagnetic waves. Photosynthesis is an anabolic process because it combine simple molecules to
produce organic molecules like on how photosynthesis use light energy to form a substance such as
glucose and water.

2. Differentiate chloroplast and chlorophyll.

- Chloroplast is an organelle where photosynthesis takes place while chlorophyll is a green pigment that
can be found in chloroplast where it absorbs light.

3. Why do photosynthesis and cellular respiration are complimentary and inverse chemical processes?
- Photosynthesis and cellular respiration is complimentary because the products of photosynthesis such
as oxygen and glucose are the reactants for cellular respiration while the product of cellular respiration
such as carbon dioxide and water is used in photosynthesis. The product of the two processes are is the
reactants of each other that’s why it’s inverse chemical processes.

4. What is the function of stomata in the leaves of the plant?

- Stomata is a small opening which allow plants to gas exchange wherein it take carbon dioxide and
release oxygen which is needed for photosynthesis.

5. Why photosynthesis is very important on Earth as well to the balance of ecosystem and food chains?
- Photosynthesis plays an important role on Earth because it is a process that produces oxygen, which
most living things need to survive. It also removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, helping to keep
the air balanced and reduce greenhouse gases. Plants use photosynthesis to make their own food, which
then supports animals and humans at all levels of the food chain. Without photosynthesis, there would
be no primary source of energy for plants, leading to a collapse in food chains. Overall, it keeps
ecosystems healthy and supports life on our planet.
