Abstract

NutriScan AI is an innovative tool designed to enhance consumer safety by scanning the

ingredients of packaged foods and identifying potentially harmful substances. The
application leverages advanced AI and machine learning algorithms alongside a robust
technology stack to deliver accurate and actionable insights. Using EasyOCR for optical
character recognition, NutriScan AI extracts ingredient data directly from product labels,
while OpenCV ensures precise image processing for improved text recognition accuracy.
The platform is built using Python and Pandas, enabling efficient data processing and
management. A user-friendly interface developed with Streamlit allows individuals to
interact with the tool seamlessly, accessing ingredient breakdowns and personalized
dietary recommendations in real time. Additionally, NutriScan AI generates detailed
reports on user statistics, employing statistical analysis to highlight trends and median
values that inform healthier dietary decisions. For accessibility, the application is designed
for mobile deployment, leveraging frameworks like Median to create a lightweight APK
for Android devices.
NutriScan AI empowers individuals to make informed dietary choices, reduce exposure to
harmful chemicals, and promote healthier lifestyles. It is particularly beneficial for those
with specific dietary needs, allergies, or health conditions, offering a practical solution to
navigate the complexities of modern food labeling. By fostering greater transparency in
food consumption, this project contributes to public health and enables consumers to stay
informed about what they eat.
