Add IP Addresses to a subscription

Scanner appliances and Cloud
Agents are the two Qualys sensors
associated with vulnerability
assessment.

To scan host assets with a Qualys
scanner appliance, you will first
need to add IP addresses to your
subscription. In the VMDR app, I
will click over to the Assets
section.

I will click the Address
Management tab. This is where
you will be able to add scannable
hosts to your subscription.

I will click the New drop-down
button.

The Qualys Platform will track
vulnerability findings for the host
asset by IP address, DNS Name, or
NetBIOS name.

There is a fourth tracking method
that uses a UUID called the Qualys
Host ID. This is used by the Cloud
Agent and is written into the
Windows registry (or Linux /etc
directory) on the host asset.

For Linux-based hosts, I will select
DNS Tracked Addresses.

You can see the number of scan
licenses and how many have been
consumed.

I will click Subscription IPs.

I have added the IP addresses
for my Linux-based hosts and
selected Vulnerability
Management.

The IPs have been added for the
Linux-based hosts. Vulnerability
findings will be tracked by the
DNS name that resolves to the IP
added.

Now I will add Windows-based
hosts. To do this, I will click the
New drop-down button.

Addresses.

Under Subscription IPs, I have
added the IP addresses for my
Windows-based hosts and
selected Vulnerability
Management.

been added. Now, you will be
able to scan these assets with a
Qualys scanner appliance.
