Computer check
Computer check
Before we start:
- Please show up to the computer check with the equipment that you will work with.
- Please get ready for the computer check as if you would for a real class, with your headset on.
- Please contact us via the Skype account that you are going to use for work – with your BetaKid
name on it, without adding “teacher”, “BetaKid”, or so on; Just your teacher’s name (example:
John D).
1. OPERATION SYSTEM:
For Windows users: Windows 10 is required, with all the latest updates installed (the
platform will not work if Windows is not up to date; please do not show up for the computer
check if all the updates are not installed). If your PC hasn’t been restored to the default settings
for a long time, then you should delete it and install new Windows 10 OS (Windows 7 is no
longer supported, so we do not take it into consideration, and you cannot pass the check;
Windows 8 is acceptable, if you do not have other options).
2. HEADSET:
Please use a headset with an external microphone (earbuds are not allowed); if you are buying
a new headset, make sure to check how many inputs your laptop / computer has, and get an
adapter if necessary. (If you have an USB headset, you do not need an adapter). You can’t
conduct classes via laptop microphone, as it picks up background sounds. Also, most of the
students do not use headsets, which can cause echo.
3. ANYDESK/SUNLOGIN:
Please install Anydesk for IT support from Serbia https://anydesk.com/en, and Sunlogin for
IT support from China (https://sunlogin.oray.com/personal/download/) (When required, please
provide the IT support with your ID and Pass).
4. START ANYDESK:
The PC check will be conducted remotely, via Anydesk programme; you will be asked to start
the Anydesk, provide us with the ID (This Desk), accept our request, and the session will start.
5. INTERNET SPEED:
The upload should be at least 2 mbps, with low ping. Ethernet cable should be linked to a
computer; it is not allowed to work via WiFi. During your classes, no one should use the internet
other than you, as it would slow down the internet speed.
Note: If you have a newer generations laptop without an Ethernet port, we will have to test your
WiFi first (the router has to be in the same room where your computer is); if it’s not stable, you would
have to provide a gigabit 3.0 adapter. You are required to have a backup solution, in case of an
unstable internet connection.
You have to complete all seven terms, otherwise your computer will not pass the
check. We have to do our best to avoid technical problems and possible
cancellations. Thank you for your understanding.
MINIMUM CONFIGURATION*
1. Proccesor: benchmark - at least 1500 (how to check your benchmark: enter the processor model in
the following link: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php and check the CPU MARK.
2. RAM memory: 4GB DDR3 RAM
3. HD/SDD: If you have a regular HARD disk, the previous 2 components should be as strong as
possible; if the other 2 components are weak, we advise you to have a solid state drive (SSD),
which can improve the performance of your computer.
PREFERRED CONFIGURATION
1. Processor: i3 (proportional to AMD, Ryzen) and higher, benchmark 4000+
2. RAM memory: 8GB DDR4 RAM
3. SSD: (Windows should be installed on SDD, not on HD);
1. Processor: When purchasing a laptop, make sure the processor is as strong as possible.
This is the most important component, and the hardest one to be upgraded later.
Benchmark should be 4000+. (Celeron processors have proven to be the worst, so please
avoid them).
2. RAM: 8GB (initially, it can be as low as 4GB; you can upgrade your RAM later);
3. SSD is very important and it speeds up computer’s performance. It is much faster than the HD
(an outdated technology). You can start with HD and upgrade it to SSD later.
Note: Used computers might be a better option, then brand-new computers with low performance
components. Desktop computers are cheaper than laptop computers.
If your computer satisfies the minimum requirements, consider investing in a better one (check
“preferred configuration”). Even though it’s currently working, in a long term it might cause
problems.
