26 The angle of elevation of a balloon from the deck of a ship 60m above 3
the lake is 30° and the angle of depression of its image in the lake is
60°. Find the height of the balloon.

OR

A bird is sitting on the top of a tree, which is 80m high. The angle of
elevation of the bird, from a point on the ground is 45°. The bird
flies away from the point of observation horizontally and remains at
a constant height. After 2 seconds, the angle of elevation of the bird
from the point of observation becomes 30°. Find the speed of flying
of the bird (Take √3=1.73)

28 Find a quadratic polynomial whose sum and product of the zeroes 1+2

The sum of four consecutive numbers in an AP is 32 and the ratio of


the product of the first and the last term to the product of two
middle terms is 7: 15. Find the numbers.

34 State and prove Thales theorem. 3+2

Using the above theorem prove that a line through the point of
intersection of the diagonals and parallel to the base of the trapezium
divides the non-parallel sides in the same ratio.

36 Amit is planning to buy a house and the its floor plan is given below. 1+1+2
The design and the measurement have been made such that areas of
two bedrooms and kitchen together is 95 sq.m. Based on the above
information, answer the following questions:

1. Form the pair of linear equations in two variables representing the


above situation.

2. Find the length of the outer boundary of the layout.

3. Find the area of each bedroom and kitchen in the layout.


37 The top of a table is shown in the figure given below. 1+1+2

(i) Write the coordinates of the points A and B are respectively.

(ii) What is the distance between the points H and G ?

(iii) The coordinates of the midpoint of line segment joining points P


and T .

38 Rahul and Ravi planned to play Business (board game) in which they 1+1+2
were supposed to roll two dice simultaneously and note the sum of
the two numbers appearing on the top face of the dice. Based on the
above information, answer the following questions:

1. Find the probability of getting a number at least 10.


2. Find the probability of getting a number between 5 and 10 .
3. Write all the possible out comes in the above game.
