Chlor-o-Safe
How Chlor-o-SafeTM works
Brine from a salt saturator is diluted and fed into
an electrochemical cell where the solution is
electrolyzed to sodium hypochlorite and
transferred to a storage tank. The hydrogen
produced is separated in a degasser and vented.
Softened water is automatically supplied to the
saturator, maintaining a stable brine concen-
tration. The generation of hypochlorite is
controlled by level switches to ensure a sufficient
amount of fresh product for varying dosing
requirement. Chlor-o-SafeTM is fully automatic and Installation for disinfection of drinking water at Lovö
controlled from a panel where all necessary safety Waterworks, City of Stockholm
devices are incorporated. All that is needed for
sterilization with the Clor-o-SafeTM unit is salt,
water and electricity. As hypochlorite is produced
