Playing classic Snes games with the Zsnes emulator is a lot of fun. But you can make the
classic gaming experience even better by configuring a controller to play with instead of using
your computer's keyboard.

Difficulty: Easy

Instructions
things you'll need:
PC or Intel-based Mac
USB controller with at least 12 programmable buttons
Zsnes
Plug in your USB controller to a USB port on your
1 computer. Remember to turn it on. Many USB controllers
have buttons or switches to activate them once connected
to a power source.

Open Zsnes. You should get the window with the purple
2 background and the snow falling.

Click "Configure" from the tabs at the top of the window.

3
Click "Devices" from the scroll down menu. It will open a
4 new window within the Zsnes window.

Under "Port 1" click "Game Pad." You have now selected
5 to play Zsnes with a controller. Close the window.

Click "Configure" again.

6
Click "Input" from the scroll-down menu. Another new
7 window will open.

Under "Device" choose "Keyboard/Gamepad."

8
Pick up your controller. Under "Keys," there are a number
9 of direction commands like "Up," "Down," "Right," "Left"
and so on. They correspond to the Snes original controller
settings.

To program your controller, click the space next to the

10 name of the button. Then press the button on your
controller. The space will change. For instance: "Down
J02." Click every command and press what button you
want to correspond to that command. You can configure up
to 5 controllers for Zsnes.

Close the window. Load a game and try it out. All of your
buttons should now correspond perfectly with the
commands, just like a classic Snes controller.

Tips & Warnings

Configure the controller how it is comfortable for you.

Be sure to plug in and turn on your controller before opening Zsnes. Otherwise the
program won't recognize your controller.
