CSE461: Introduction to Robotics

Assignment

Instructions:

1. You are provided a scenario where you will need to design a robot. You are required to
submit a report on your designed robot, containing the tasks mentioned below. Scenarios
for each group are assigned below. Point 1 is assigned to Group 1 and so on.
2. Your assignment will be done in groups, which were assigned during your lab.
3. Your report MUST contain a section mentioning the contributions made by each group
member.
4. You MUST submit your report by 11:59 PM, 31st of August. Late submissions will not
be accepted. One report will be submitted from each group. Submit the PDF file of your
report to [email protected]

Tasks:

1. Describe the Sensory Subsystem of your robot, listing out every sensor needed along
with their usage.
2. Describe the Control Subsystem of your robot, listing out every controller and control
algorithm needed along with their usage.
3. Describe the Motion Subsystem of your robot, listing out every actuator and transmission
systems needed along with their usage.
4. Describe the operation of your robot, listing out each and every feature it can perform.
5. (BONUS) Draw a diagram of your robot and label out each component. You can make a
freehand sketch or use any illustration tools.
6. (BONUS) Draw a block diagram of your robot and determine its Transfer Function. You
can either draw a single block diagram of the entire robot, or you can draw separate
diagrams for each individual system.
Scenarios:

1. Design a robot for an automated warehouse.


2. Design a robot for agricultural tasks.
3. Design a robot to operate in a disaster-stricken area.
4. Design a robot capable of exploring underwater environments.
5. Design a robot to assist with daily tasks in a household environment.
6. Design a robot for assisting the elderly.
7. Design a robot for exploring celestial bodies.
8. Design an educational robot for children.
