CASE STUDY
36. Indian Army is the third biggest military contingent in the World next to USA and
China. However, there are many firsts that make Indian army stand out in the world,
making us all Indians very proud. Knowing them, will help you celebrate Republic
day with greater vigour and gratitude. On 71th republic day Parade in Delhi the
Captain was planning for parade of following two groups:
(a) First group of Army contingent of 624 members behind an army band of 32
members.
(b) Second group of CRPF troops with 468 soldiers behind the 228 members of
bikers. These two groups are to march in the same number of columns.
(i) What is the maximum number of columns in which the army troop can march?
(ii) What is the maximum number of columns in which the CRPF troop can
march?

38. Mr. Shivram arranged a dinner party for some of his friends. The expenses of the dinner
party are categorised as partly constant and partly proportional to the number of guests.
That is a constant amount has to be paid for venue/hall and the dinner amount per person
is calculated. The total expenses amount to 450 for five guests including the constant
amount for venue and he has to spent a total amount, 850 for 10 guests including the
venue.
Denote the constant expense by x and proportional expense per person by y, and
answer the following questions
