Greetings and introduction to the Atal Incubation Center (AIC). As part of the Atal
Innovation Mission (AIM), the Indian government established the Atal Incubation Centre
(AIC) to promote entrepreneurship and innovation across the country. AICs are established in
a range of educational environments, research facilities, and commercial hubs to provide
funding, infrastructure, support, and mentoring to start-ups and prospective business owners.
These centers aim to foster innovation, help transform innovative ideas into profitable
businesses, and encourage the growth of India's startup community. Accelerators frequently
offer services including financial opportunities, training sessions, mentorship programmes,
and access to networks and resources to help entrepreneurs succeed and grow their firms.
People can exhibit their expertise and skills on LinkedIn, a professional networking site, and
interact with other professionals by creating profiles. It is utilised for professional growth,
networking, and job searching.
Making connections with others in our sector or field for the purpose of exchanging
opportunities, advice, and information is known as professional networking. It’s a method to
broaden our professional network, gain new perspectives, and possibly progress our careers.
The way we portray ourselves and our professional identities on LinkedIn determines our
visibility within the network. This covers the content you share as well as our profile photo,
title, and summary.
One useful tool for locating job openings is LinkedIn. Job listings are frequently posted by
recruiters and employers directly on the site, which we can also use to investigate businesses,
stay up to speed on their news, and get in touch with recruiters or hiring managers. We may
also use LinkedIn’s job search feature to identify openings that fit our interests and talents by
filtering by region, industry, and other parameters.
Actively interacting with our connections, joining groups that are pertinent to our sector,
providing thought-provoking information, and establishing new connections are all part of
LinkedIn networking methods. Using LinkedIn Learning courses and other learning tools,
joining industry-specific groups, attending webinars and events, and following thought
leaders to remain up to date on developments in our sector are all examples of professional
development on the platform.
LinkedIn recommendations are endorsements of our skills and abilities written by our
connections. They are an effective means of demonstrating to prospective employers or
clients our legitimacy and experience. You can ask for referrals from coworkers, managers,
or customers who can attest to our accomplishments, work ethic, and strong points.
Creating a LinkedIn profile is essential for professionals as it serves as an online resume and
networking tool. A well-crafted LinkedIn profile can enhance our visibility, credibility, and
professional brand. It allows us to showcase our skills, experiences, and accomplishments to
potential employers, clients, and colleagues. Our profile can also facilitate networking
opportunities, job opportunities, and professional development. It’s important to keep our
profile updated with relevant information and engage with our network to maximize the
impact of our LinkedIn presence.
Canva offers a simple , affordable method for both individuals and companies to produce
graphics of excellent quality without the requirement of advanced software . Collaboration
between team members and branding consistency can also benefit from it.
During our hands-on training, we learned how to utilise Canva effectively and discovered its
value as a versatile tool for creating visual material of the highest calibre. During our
practical session, we made a vibrant poster to commemorate Independence Day. We expertly
used pertinent data and our company’s emblem to produce an eye-catching and patriotic
design.
Global cooperation, trade, and innovation are facilitated by good communication since it
fosters mutual understanding and collaboration across borders. Additionally, it gives people
the ability to take part in international discussions, support causes, and effect positive change
on a global basis. Essentially, communication acts as a link between individuals all over the
world, fostering growth and harmony
Communication is key to reaching a global audience since it helps to overcome cultural and
physical boundaries. Language translation, international networks, digital platforms, and
other channels facilitate the interchange of ideas, products, and information through global
communication. It enables people, businesses, and organisations to communicate with diverse
audiences, understand other viewpoints, and adapt to minute cultural differences. Good
communication promotes mutual understanding and cross-border collaboration, which
facilitates global cooperation, trade, and innovation. It also enables people to support causes,
engage in international dialogue, and bring about constructive change on a worldwide scale.
In essence, communication serves as a bridge that connects people everywhere, promoting
development and harmony.
We had a practical session following the theory session . The interns were divided into four
teams . Each team was given a different topic . Our task was to make conversation with the
reporters . The session was very interactive .
Time Management session by Ankur Warikoo
Ankur Warikoo is an Indian Internet entrepreneur and one of the country’s top content
creators. He also teaches online and writes best-selling books. Making sure that every choice
you make in life is made with awareness rather than ignorance is his main objective in
producing this content.
The presentation on time management by Ankur Warriko was shown on the LED screen. The
lesson on the value of managing your time well was quite fascinating.
Time management skills are critical to achieving goals and maximising productivity.
Using time management tools like calendars and to-do lists, scheduling tasks, and breaking
things down into manageable chunks are some techniques that can support attention span and
organisation.
Developing self-discipline and knowing when to assign assignments are also crucial elements
of effective time management. Ultimately, using time management techniques helps people
make the most of the little time they have, which raises success in both personal and
professional endeavours and promotes productivity and stress reduction.
Industrial visit
In India, SKF Elixer is the biggest producer of RO water purifiers for homes and businesses.
Dr. G. Ramakrishna Achar, a devoted, vibrant, and well-known figure in the business world,
formed it. He began in 1987 with a capital of INR 25,000 under the name Sri Kalikamba
Fabrications, which was subsequently adopted as the company’s current name. Following his
enormous success, Dr. Achar suffered a significant setback in 2003 when rice exports were
prohibited. Nevertheless, the business has recovered from all of those setbacks and is
currently valued at about 150 crores.
Basically, the industry produces the dryers and boilers used in rice mills. First, we were
shown to the Automation and Panel Division, where we learned about the actual applications
of the boilers and dryers made here in various rice mills. The metal sheets that were used in
the production procedures were purchased from outside vendors.
Here, two distinct kinds of sheets are utilised. MS Sheets, sometimes referred to as mild steel
sheets, are the first kind. These sheets are alloys that have been painted with standard paints
that are sold in stores. These sheets are not as precise as laser sheets, but they nevertheless
have lower quality standards than other types that are made by hand or with plasma cutting
machines in accordance with specifications.
Stainless steel sheets, or SS Sheets, are the second kind of sheets that are utilised. These are
premium sheets that have been precisely shaped and polished by laser equipment. Compared
to MS Sheets, these sheets are thinner since they have a lower millimetre count. It’s
important to remember that while both of the sheets can be created using laser equipment, the
MS Sheets are created by hand to minimise costs due to the high expense of both purchasing
and maintaining the laser equipment. The majority of wastes are generated in the portion
dedicated to laser cutting, and all of these wastes are classified as scrap
After being put through rolling machines to give them the right shape, these sheets are
transported to the manufacturing facility for blowers. We were next shown to the welding
section, where we witnessed the production of hot pipes. These pipes were submerged in an
aluminium solution. Once more, we were given an explanation of how the products made in
the factory in various rice mills actually operated in the Automation and Panel Division.
Large funnels are used to clean the raw paddy, and the amount cleaned is determined by the
funnels' tonnage capacity. The capacity typically ranges from 20 to 60 tonnes. To produce
one boiler, it takes about 45 days.
There was another part of the industry waiting for us which manufactured completely
different products and that was the manufacturing of Water Purifiers of different types, sizes
and capacities. Here we were taken to the Tank Assembling and Puff Installation Batch
where we learned about how the containers were made and that the filtration motors were
brought from outside sources which were just assembled into the containers in the industry.
There are three different compartments in a Water Purifier which are the storage, filtration
and the compressor. Some of the purifiers offer the varieties in water like hot, cold and plain.
RO, UV and UF purifiers are manufactured in order to suit the different types of water. RO
(Reverse Osmosis) is used in case of Hard Water, which removes dissolved solids and ions
from the water, UV (Ultraviolet) is used in case of Well Water, which kills the bacteria and
germs present in the water and UF (Ultrafiltration) which kills other impurities and viruses in
the water. Ultimately, it depends upon the source of water.
Subsequently, we visited the Assembling, Branding, and Testing batches. Finally, we visited
the Packing and Dispatch batch, where we discovered that this is where event-based
marketing occurs and that politicians are typically the primary target market because the
company was in charge of installing water purifiers as part of several government initiatives.
We also had a conversation with Mrs. Shrinidhi, the company’s CEO, who talked to us about
startups and the competitive environment in the market.
In conclusion, my personal experience was excellent since it gave me the chance to learn
about how a company or sector operates in real life rather than just hearing about it in
lectures or reading about it online.
INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO BOLAS
Currently, cashew, coffee beans, edible oil, almonds, and other dry fruits are among the
agricultural commodities that Bolas imports, processes, and exports most frequently from
India. The branch in Kedinje, Karkala, is where we went. The Company has seven directors
in total. Bola Surendra Kamath and Sons own the company as a whole; they established their
first unit in 2005. The industrial unit and the branch that we visited were independent entities.
Beside that, in a different room, the packaged goods were offered for sale as Factory Outlets
for less than MRP. They currently operate 68 locations, and on July 1, 2023, more than 20
more stores opened.
When we initially went to the Cashew Nuts Unit, we were informed that the majority of the
cashews were imported from nations in Africa. We observed how the raw nuts were
separated and graded based on their size, colour, and quality. The nuts were first roasted
using the Boiling Hot Water process rather than being sliced straight away. The nuts are
roasted using the steam created when boiling hot water, and then they are kept in large
containers for at least two days, or until it becomes difficult to remove the nuts from their
shells. There are around two to three layers of shells wrapped around a nut and peeling of
each layer of shell has different processes where the inner layer of the nut is separated using
the Hot Chamber technique. The full-sized nuts are known as Wholes which are sent for
cutting after two days of storage.
We were introduced to Meyer machines, which sort nuts into S and W varieties. W nuts are
of the higher quality, and S seeds need to go through the cleaning process once more before
being peeled and distributed to various departments. Women were manually peeling the nuts
in another top chamber. These nuts are extracted from the bundle of peels created when
cashew nut peels were removed. In the upper chamber, there were about ten to fifteen
members at work.
We were shown to another area where we witnessed the real operation of the boiler that
generates the steam. A candidate must pass a few tests in order to operate this boiler. The
boiler has a capacity of about 1,000 tonnes. The boiler had four pipes attached to it that
carried steam to the hot chamber, two other rooms that were comparable, and the roasting
area. If there is too much steam, it is released through a different pipe as water. There are a
tons of bags here that are actually filled with extra powder and smashed nuts. These are low-
grade bags that are offered on the market at varying prices based on their quality.
There are various International Grading Standards upon which the peeling and separation
process takes place. The top grade is W-180 and W-320 and the lower quality is W-400.
Separation happens both manually as well as through machines. Even the finest of the finest
powders are collected here and segregated on the basis of quality. For a packet of 1kg of
pieces of cashews, it costs around INR 999 whereas 10kg of cashews are stored and sold in
tins. The Chief of the Importing department told us that the dry fruits were imported from
different countries across the world. Pistachio is imported from Iran, Dates from UAE, Iraq
and Tunisia. Other dry fruits are brought from Mumbai, Gujarat but she also said that it might
have been imported by the parties from whom they purchase.
Along with the shells, we were shown to the section containing almonds, where we learned
that they are imported from Australia and the United States. The shell removal process takes
performed during about 7-8 grading processes. These are gathered on the opposite side of the
apparatuses and subsequently utilised again for certain substances. If the almonds and shells
are not separated beforehand, a different machine does it again. It is then elevated and
submitted for grading. For loading and unloading, a separate area is kept up to date. One
party engaged in the transportation process is VRL Logistics Ltd.
We met one of the company’s directors when we arrived at the office at the conclusion. He
spoke to us about the Company’s role in the lockdown. He claimed that they had not suffered
much losses because they owned the food and beverage sector. During the First Lockdown,
the units had to be closed, but during the subsequent lockdowns, they were permitted to
remain open. He also gave us advice on how to always succeed if one is persistent,
imaginative, and committed. He also stated that if a person keeps up his efforts, success will
come regardless of wealth.
A personal finance session led by Dr. Radhakrishna Sharma
Personal finance is the term used to describe how someone manages their finances, including
budgeting, saving, investing, and future planning. Achieving financial goals and ensuring
long-term financial stability requires making educated decisions about debt, assets, income,
and spending.
Investing is essential for achieving financial goals, building wealth, and guaranteeing future
financial security.
The chances of making money with bank savings accounts are limited. The money we put
there does not grow much because of their usually relatively low interest rates. That makes it
a bad choice for an investment.
Due to the possibility of profiting from both property appreciation and rental income, real
estate investing might be a wise decision. It takes little work on your part to get a consistent
monthly income from renting out a house. Furthermore, your property’s worth can rise with
time, enabling you to sell it later on for a profit.
Microsoft Excel is a robust spreadsheet programme that they have created. Word,
PowerPoint, and Outlook are also included in the Microsoft Office application suite that
includes it. When organising, analysing, and presenting tabular data, Excel is often utilised.
Worksheets are user-created grids consisting of rows and columns. They can enter data,
compute with functions and formulas, and create various graphs and charts to visually
represent their data on these grids. Excel has a wide range of features and tools, including
pivot tables, conditional formatting, data sorting and filtering, and macros for automation.
Dr. Jnaneshwar pai described a few of Excel’s fundamental functions. We could ask
whatever questions we had. Even the significance of locking an Excel file was covered by
him.
Harsh led a course on writing effective resumes. Harsh guided us through the process of
producing and refining our own sample resumes after providing us with advice on what to
include and what not to include in a successful CV. Additionally, he offered guidance on
interview technique and job search strategies
