1. DESIGN REQUIREMENTS, USES & REASON OF CHOOSING:

•REQUIREMENTS:
Precast panels offer excellent tensile strength, durability, and versatility
without needing steel reinforcement. They come in various colors and can be
customized to meet aesthetic requirements. The manufacturing process
ensures consistent color, high-quality finishes, and textures, resulting in
cleaner and more efficient site work. These panels provide architects with an
attractive, durable, and cost-effective solution.
PUBLIC BUILDING
1. Residential Buildings: such as single-family homes and multi-story
apartment. Enhances the aesthetic appeal of homes, offering a wide
array of design possibilities; – Provides protection against the elements,
increasing the longevity of the structure.
2. Commercial and Public buildings: Adds a touch of elegance to office
buildings, hotels, shopping malls, and public institutions. reinforces the
building’s exterior, ensuring durability and minimizing maintenance COMMERICAL BUILDING
requirements.
3. Industrial Facilities: Offers a robust and reliable solution for warehouses,
factories, and other industrial buildings. withstands harsh conditions and
protects against potential chemical exposure.
4. Renovation and retrofitting: Can be used to upgrade the appearance and
performance of older buildings; provides an opportunity to modernize
structures without extensive demolition. RESIDENTIAL BUILDING
USES:
1. Interior Walls: Create stunning feature walls and add a touch of
modernity to interior spaces.
2. Exterior Walls: Protect your building from Melbourne’s weather while
adding a textured finish using concrete wall panels for exterior
3. Fireplaces: It is mostly used for fireplaces while benefiting from the
heat-resistant properties of concrete cladding.
4. Foundations and floors : Many buildings, such as residential homes, use BRIDGES USES
precast concrete foundations.
5. Compound walls
6. Bridges: Precast concrete is used in the construction of bridges,
including bridge decks, beams, and columns.
7. Retaining Walls: Precast concrete is used in many types of retaining
walls, both commercial and residential.

REASONS OF CHOOSING :
1. Durability: Precast concrete is highly durable, resistant to weather, fire,
pests, and rot.
2. Aesthetic Flexibility: It offers a wide range of textures, colors, and finishes,
allowing for versatile design options.
3. Energy Efficiency: Provides excellent thermal insulation, reducing heating
and cooling costs. SYDNY OPERA HOUSE
4. Quality Control: Manufactured in a controlled environment, ensuring high
quality and consistency.
5. Cost-Effective: Reduces transportation and on-site labor costs, and can
lower long-term energy expenses.
6. Quick Installation: Pre-fabricated panels speed up the construction
process.
7. Low Maintenance: Requires minimal upkeep, making it a cost-effective VICTORIA AND ALBERT
choice over time. MUSEUM

STRUCTURAL PREPARATIONS:
1. Design and Planning:Load Analysis: Assess the loads the
cladding will bear, including wind, seismic, and dead loads.
2. Connection Design: Plan for secure connections to the building
structure, considering both structural and thermal movements.
3. Site Preparation:Foundation and Support: Ensure the building’s
foundation and support structures are ready to receive the
cladding.
4. Access and Logistics: Plan for crane access and storage of
panels on-site.
5.Panel Fabrication: Quality Control: Manufacture panels in a controlled environment to ensure
consistency and quality.
6.Reinforcement and Inserts: Include necessary reinforcement and inserts for lifting and connection.
7.Installation Preparation: Mock-Ups and Trials: Conduct mock-ups to test installation procedures and
ensure fit and finish.

TYPES OF JOINTS:

VERTICAL HEROZINTAL

TYPES OF CONNECTIONS:

Beam to Column Connections. Column to floor connection. Panel to Panel Connections.

BOLTED CONNECTION. WELDED CONNECTION. MECHANICAL CONNECTION.

PANEL SPECIFICATIONS:

Panels are typically in the range of 150 mm thick, designed to span either between columns or between
floors.

1. Single Skin Panels: typically 125mm to 150mm thick, are non-load bearing and can be flat or custom-
made.
2. Sandwich Panels: An outer, non load-bearing leaf of precast concrete (typically 80mm) ,n inner leaf of
load-bearing plain grey concrete (100 to 200 mm) .
3. INSULATION & PROOFING: THERMAL, ACOUSTIC, MOISTURE, SHOCK:
INSULATION & PROOFING :
1. Thermal insulation :Precast concrete has superior fire resistance qualities to many other construction materials.
• Sandwich panels can provide up to 4 hours fire resistance where required.
• Precast wall panels have inherent fire containment characteristics.
2.Acoustic insulation : Precast concrete provides one of the highest levels of acoustic separation of any common
construction system for both internal and external walls.

3. Moisture resistance : Dense ready-mix concrete is generally not

subject to rising moisture or structural damage from condensation
or dew point formation. The low permeability of concrete helps
resist vapor transmission, maintaining tight moisture control.

4.shock resistance :
1-Seismic Resistance: flexible connections and dynamic testing ensure it withstands earthquakes.
2-Impact Resistance: robust design and reinforcement absorb impact loads.
3-Wind and Structural Movements: isolation systems protect against wind and building movements.

4. DURABILITY, AESTHETICS, COST, MAINTENANCE:

DURABILITY:
1-High Compressive strength: Withstands significant loads.
2-Low Permeability: resists water and chemicals.
3- Quality Control: consistent manufacturing quality.
4- Environmental Resistance: withstands weathering and seismic activity.
5-Longevity.

AESTHETICKS:
1-Finishes: smooth, exposed aggregate, formliners,
sandblasting, acid etching, honing, polishing, and
painting.
2-Material Mimicry: replicates brick and stone, custom
colors, and textures.
3-Design Flexibility: custom shapes, sizes, and
combination finishes

COST:
cost-effective especially considering the overall aesthetic impact, Lower Cost comparing with other cladding

MAINTENANCE:
low maintenance, only require a regular process of inspection, cleaning and minor repairs of buildings
elements and exterior systems.
